#COP27 has evidenced the large role the financial sector plays in rising #GHG emissions. No one can be given a pass in tackling the #ClimateCrisis - Ireland’s position must be strong to stop massive #GHG emissions from the world’s largest investors. #csddd #COP27

Following such a positive meeting with the Irish Coalition on Business and Human Rights yesterday, can @daracalleary clarify that Ireland has not taken this position, effectively backing a financial sector greenwashing? #csddd #COP27 xitter.gq/OxfamIreland/status/15…

I have just warned global leaders at #COP27: We are on a highway to climate hell with our foot on the accelerator. Our planet is fast approaching tipping points that will make climate chaos irreversible. We need urgent #ClimateAction.

Very strong ltr in today's @IrishTimes by former @EU_ENV lawyer & official Liam Cashman roundly criticising the call by John Fitzgerald to loosen environmental laws to facilitate afforestation & for common sense reasons. irishtimes.com/opinion/lette…

I have put together a book with over 100 contributors that will share expertise and experiences from people all over the world. These crises are the biggest story in the world, and they must be spoken as far and wide as our voices can carry, and much further still.

This is a big climbdown from what @GHGGuru told the Oireachtas Ag Committee. California hasn’t reduced its livestock methane emissions by 30%, it’s met 30% of its reduction target! I presume Committee record will be corrected @jackiecahillff @mattcarthy @BrianLeddin @LNBDublin?
Have you read any of the threads that I put out on this topic? I described in detail that indeed our dairy sector has reached 30% of its methane reduction goal (which is approx 2.2 out of 7.1MMT).

This is key. There's a lot of noise on here at the mo & various accusations. Farmers aren't the problem. But agri policy patently is, & it's been hugely influenced by the agri-business lobby- they must assume some responsibility for the outcome. /1
Replying to @FintanKelly_
Farmers aren't to blame. They have responded to the market & policies developed by gov & agri / processing Ind lobbyists. Making tillage more competitive vs dairy isn't straight forward but that's all the more reason for informed debate @EamonRyan @MichealMartinTD @LeoVaradkar
