I keep telling you guys, far Upstate NY is one of the weirdest places in the United States.
Imagine a version of Limp Bizkit with fetal alcohol syndrome, snorting Percs and cracking racist jokes outside a ruined dairy barn full of rusted-out snowmobiles.
Stewart's donuts, rotten teeth, DUI's, unemployment scams, Seneca cigs. And an endless parade of obese state workers with Canadian accents riding UTV's with big "FUCK HOCHUL" stickers on the windshield, blaring country rap songs on their way to get poutine in a snowstorm in east bumblefuck.
That's the electorate here. That's our bread and butter. Those are Constantino's people.
People from elsewhere genuinely don't get it, what I'm saying here is not a parody, it's the real deal.

The New South is the anti-Rust Belt. A poor unproductive backwater made prosperous by globalization, free trade, and free markets. The governing ideology of the new GOP cannot win in the South.
Either reverse course NOW, or enjoy your 9 point win in Alabama while you still can.
Peter Navarro said something quite revealing on CNBC today about BMW's factory in South Carolina: "That doesn't work for America. It's bad for our economics, it's bad for our national security."
This piqued my interest. I grew up very close to that BMW facility -- the company's largest in the world -- and I watched it transform my state and region with more than $13 billion invested in since 1992, 11,000 jobs onsite at an 8 million square foot campus, $10+ billion in exports in 2023 alone, etc. One study put the annual economic impact of the plant at $27 billion. In a small state, these are absolutely game-changing numbers.
For all these reasons, BMW's investment has been hailed as a turning point in the state's economic history. Earlier this year, for example, Gov. Henry McMaster said this: "BMW's arrival in South Carolina over 30 years ago transformed our economy and global reputation." He's right. The investment was instrumental in helping the state transition from a textile-dependent economy for most of the 20th century to one with a vibrant advanced manufacturing industry today.
In light of all this, how in the world does Navarro conclude that BMW's investment "doesn't work for America"? I mean, even trade restrictionists have long praised this kind of inbound foreign direct investment in U.S. auto manufacturing. Not Navarro. He's setting a new bar: whatever benefits BMW has delivered are more than canceled out by the fact that it sources parts from a global supply chain. And this is the vision behind the new tariff agenda.

Trump says a forthcoming agreement with Putin will be not just about Ukraine but all of Europe. This has been Putin’s dream from the beginning: to get a veto over European security. Giving away the store isn’t exactly deal-making.

The "Republicans lost because Americans are lazy and entitled and just want free stuff" carries less weight in a year when the president promised to send $5,000 cash payments to every adult U.S. citizen if the GOP held the House and Senate.

Right now, it looks like they'll win at least 10 of the 18 lean R seats: AL02, CO04, FL09, IN05, MN01, NV02, OH10, OH15, TX23, WI01. And AZ02 is still possible. Of the other 7, 3 were in FL and they lost by less than 1 point in all of them.

A lot of the Democrats who have been interviewed on CNN the last couple of days really get it. Many of them said that this election does not mean that suddenly people fell in love with Democrats. They get that this was a binary choice and people voted for “Not Trump.”
WTH? Maybe these groups should tell this effin' fascist to f*ck off. And I assume that those who bleated incessantly about Obama weaponizing the IRS against conservative groups will be consistent and loudly condemn this?
Not the sort of thing you do if you’re confident in your base.
WH memo to 3,000 conservative organisations:
‘“As always, we are monitoring statements, press releases, and media engagements from your organizations,” the memo said. Leaders of two prominent conservative organizations confirmed that they had received the memo.’
This goes to, precisely, @EWErickson's assertion that the Republicans' torching of the VRA provisions motivated black voters across the South:

“Population density has become a veto over the rest of the state.”
It’s really a fucked up way to run the country with an electoral system where the majority of voters decide who gets to govern.
These people are unreal. They keep posting the same idiotic maps of mostly empty areas colored red as if cows had the vote too.
Rural conservatives in deep-blue states are effectively governed without consent. In New York, Republicans win most counties yet still lose statewide by 20 points because dense urban and suburban voters in New York City and its suburbs cast the decisive ballots and vote overwhelmingly Democratic. The result is that rural and upstate communities pay the taxes, live under the regulations, and absorb the costs set by politicians they consistently reject. Same story in California and Illinois. Population density has become a veto over the rest of the state.

Everybody that is paying attention to Ossoff is thinking the same thing. He would be extremely difficult to beat in a primary because he is a generationally talented politician.
So you should expect this crowd to start their attacks now because they can see it, too.

This “human rights commissioner” is sanctioned by the United States and charged in absentia by Ukraine with trafficking children to Russia.
She belongs behind bars, not in the White House.
In Washington, D.C., I attended the press conference of US First Lady Melania Trump @FLOTUS at the White House. The event was dedicated to the outcomes of the humanitarian mission in Oleshky coordinated by the First Lady.
Every human life matters to us. Our continued cooperation is a chance to save more people and keep helping those in need.
Undoubtedly one of the social media posts that contributed to the notion, on the part of many voters, that this decadent Trump II regime is out of touch doesn't care about their problems, at all. #Midterms2026

I think everyone is overstating candidate quality for why Democrats won, tbh, with maybe the exceptions of Texas and Mississippi. Looking at results around the country, this was clearly a “we will vote for any Democrat with a pulse” election. One Iowa State House seat literally went to a Democrat who had dropped out in September for health reasons. The Senator-elect from South Carolina is a resist lib doctor. Even looking at the flip side of this, Husted did less than a point better than Vivek, despite the abysmal numbers for the latter. Face it, this was just an anti-GOP, anti-MAGA election.
