It’s with great sadness but excitement that I resign from the @Mercosoftball program. I will be transitioning into the Assistant Principal/Atheltic Director role at Mercer County. I have enjoyed my time as the head coach, but am ready for a new chapter in my career.

We made plans and adjusted calendars… only to now have to adjust those again?? We try and plan things so we can tell our families ahead of time, and now the IHSA is making it harder… we were still planning to take the dead week before practice started.
IHSA update: A proposal recommended by Sports Medicine Advisory Committee and the IHSA Board of Directors would now move 2026 football practice to Aug. 5, restore 12 required practices, and set the dead week for June 29–July 5.
This is not official and must first be approved by the Legislative Commission on Jan. 27 and ratified by IHSA member schools. Families should be prepared to adjust summer plans.
The timeline for this process is as follows:
January 27, 2026- The Legislative Commission will meet and vote on whether to advance the proposal to a membership vote.
January 29, 2026 - If the Legislative Commission approves the advancement, all member schools will have the opportunity to vote on the proposal.
February 12, 2026 - Voting closes
***If the proposal passes, August 5 becomes the first practice date of the 2026 football season.***

Special congratulations to the Mercer County Golden Eagles, who were awarded this year's Tournament Sportsmanship Award, presented by the West Central Officials Association. The award represents the team that had the best sportsmanship and attitude during the tournament games, and is voted on by the tournament officials.
