Most of them will take it out of the box, transfer their old phone, and use it identically to the iPhone they replaced same apps, same layout, same camera at default settings, same Action Button set to silent mode, same Camera Control button pressed once to open the camera and never used for anything else.
A professional photographer who’s been shooting on pre-production iPhone 18 Pro Max units since August and has tested every camera feature Apple built into this phone told his assistant something during a shoot that reframed everything about how the iPhone 18 Pro Max is meant to be used.
“Everyone who bought this phone bought a camera that rivals a $2,000 mirrorless setup. Then they open the Camera app, tap the shutter button, and let computational photography make every decision. They never touch the variable aperture the first physical aperture control in iPhone history. They never open Pro Controls to set shutter speed manually.
