One of the most interesting AI labs in Europe is being built out of Prague The team believe that frontier models drastically overthink, and therefore burn tokens unnecessarily So @BottleCapAI (named after Europe's greatest innovation) takes an existing open model and trains it to think less while staying just as accurate. Last week the lab released 3 models: >> Nvidia’s Nemotron: up to 31% and on average 23% less thinking, with comparable benchmark accuracy >> Alibaba’s Qwen3.8-Flash-Next: spending 39% fewer thinking tokens on average for about a point of accuracy loss >> Google’s Gemma 4: their first ThinkingCap on a Google model, with 39% fewer thinking tokens on average for just 0.15pp of accuracy The impact of what they're building is less token spend and less hardware is required. VERY COOL @JaroslavBeck @itsdavidherel
🚨ThinkingCap: Gemma-4-26B-A4B is out! The most token-efficient Gemma-4-26B-A4B available. 🚀Up to 69% fewer thinking tokens, 38.9% on average 🎯Negligible accuracy loss 0.15pp 🏢ThinkingCap PRO: up to 87.6% fewer thinking tokens, 62% on average - Contact our enterprise[at]bottlecapai[dot]com 📄Blogpost: bottlecapai.com/post/thinkin… 🤗Hugging Face: huggingface.co/bottlecapai/T… 🔗GGUF: huggingface.co/bottlecapai/T…

Back to back.
#EDS #BallonDor

Anthropic files for IPO. But who is poised to get the 💰? My usual breakdown below 👇 Investors will be sharing nearly $1 TRILLION of proceeds on ~$142b invested. A ~6.5x blended multiple on a huge amount of capital, in just 5 years. 🤯 Note: all those numbers assume a $1.5 trillion IPO valuation. So let’s dive in 🔎 1) The craziest fact: no VC in the Series A or Series B 🤯 The $124m Series A in May-21 was led by Jaan Tallinn (Skype’s co-founder), with Dustin Moskovitz and Eric Schmidt. It is likely to return ~345x the original capital, or ~$43b to those early angels. Mind-boggling. The $982m Series B in 2022 was led by... SBF and FTX: it will return ~79x the capital invested. FTX’s $500m would be worth ~$39b today. Plot twist: the estate sold it for ~$1.3b in 2024, in one of the worst trades ever. 2) The first VCs in: Spark and Menlo are killing it 🏆 Spark will make over $10b from its Anthropic investments. They first came into the 2023 Series C and are making ~79x their investment in that round. They followed in every single round since, investing $777m in total, now worth ~$11b. Menlo led the Jan-24 Series D and will make ~30x its money on that round. And finally, Lightspeed’s Series E lead will make ~16x in 18 months. 3) The real winners in $ terms: the strategics 💰 Amazon put a grand total of ~$18b in, mostly via convertible notes converting at ~$2 a share, against $58.90 for the Series H investors. That gives Amazon ~21% of the company, worth ~$310b. That’s ~17x its investment. 💵 Google is not that far behind: its notes and the $10b it put in this April alone will be worth ~$83b. And that’s before the compute: Anthropic has committed $110b+ to AWS and $111b to Google Cloud. They are both investors and suppliers, so they win twice. 4) Founders and team: incredible outcome, and giving most of it away 🙏 The seven co-founders hold ~240m shares each. That’s ~$21b per person, or ~$150b combined. 👏 And each of them has pledged 80% of it to philanthropy. So ~$120b will be going to good causes. On top of that, Anthropic put 5% of the company (~$75b) into its own Public Benefit Fund. And the IPO will mint a huge number of UHNW in the team: they will share ~$355b worth of shares, options and RSUs. Perhaps the biggest and fastest employee wealth creation event in history. Congrats to Dario, Daniela and everyone involved. Legendary. 👏

One reason young people want socialism so much is that they're jealous that older people have it and they don't.

Sharing an update on my agentic workflow! Today, there are only two REAL bottlenecks left in software development. Compute and Human Attention. Not PRs, Planning, CI/CD. Those aren't real bottlenecks. You only think they are because they consume your Human Attention. You can solve the Compute problem by throwing money at it. You can solve the Human Attention problem by throwing Compute at it. I reframed my workflow optimization around minimizing places that need my attention (and continue to do so). This blog post talks about my new setup. I hope... open.substack.com/pub/thebui…

This one is even more impressive! Gemma 4 doesn't think much compared to Qwen3.x But they made it even more token efficient!

Meanwhile, in France. A pink cat, fire hoses, garbage, a flag, and road signs reading "Republic" and "Bastille." A beautiful shot.

Catching up on the whole HomeView thing and it’s funny how 6 years early @finkd and @boztank were with the Portal. Hope they get this as inspiration to put some life back on them. Probably the best ever device/service they’ve built.

We released ArchDev yesterday - it's a tool for software peeps to keep up with their agents and all the stuff they produce. Two new features today! 1/ Public Roadmap. Find it at archdev.ai/roadmap . We'd love to hear how we can help you keep up with your agents. Especially if your non-technical and have no idea how to read code! 2/ Catch-Up for Code Review. I don't know about you, but I let my agents work all night and then wake up to 30 PRs. Catch-Up lets you very quickly go through all those PRs and take action on them. No more clicking around to multiple interfaces and you can drive it fully from the keyboard. We're going to keep up the ships next week! Have a great weekend everyone!
