Seniors - As you narrow down your college list 1⃣ Check the 4 yr graduation rate for each campus 2⃣ Use Net Price Calculators to know Tuition costs - private campuses may be cheaper 3⃣ Research your Major/Minor. Have a backup plan Don't presume you know before you research.
What common mistakes do Seniors make every year? 🚫Don't connect with Campus Admissions in any way🚫Unrealistic/unbalanced/Uninformed College Lists 🚫Signing up for interviews too late or not following up 🚫Starting applications Late or reusing generic essays Will Juniors Learn?

Before you dive into your Common Application essay - have a look at the supplemental #essays for every campus on your college list. Too often students mistakenly use material for the CA that they really need for their campus specific supplemental essay. Save yourself the anguish

What should Juniors be doing to prepare for College Applications? Start a College List with 20-25 campuses then reduce to 6-12 Safety/Target/Reach schools Testing? Plan on Testing Twice  Test/application fee waivers? Ask a Counselor Use all Net Price Calculators!!

Juniors-Forming your College List? Relax, Research & Apply realistically. This year, I saw no surprises in private Admissions that weren’t in the students favor Apply to ✅6-12 campuses ✅At least 2 Safety & 2 Match ✅ Only a campus you LOVE ✅Reach not Impossible Dream schools
Always Choose your College Major Seriously & Realistically. This diagram shows majors of Community College Transfer students to Cal State system. Zip recruiter lists the salary of California Psychologist as $48,562 /year or $23/hour-The minimum cost to live in California? $46,636
Outcomes are far more important than rankings when building your college list - Skip the visit to the stadium & visit the Career Center. Do they personalize their services & find YOU the right internship/job, connect you with alum OR is it just a database & a resume review.

PLAN FOR SUCCESS👩🏻‍🎓 Does EVERY campus on your College List graduate at least 75% of students in 4 years? The average 4 yr grad rate at public campuses is 33% & 53% at private institutions. DO NOT presume ALL Colleges are equal - CHECK FOUR Year Grad Rates👍🏽cappex.com/articles/blog/gov…

Are you a bright talented woman 100% focussed on opportunity & success? Have you looked at having a women’s college on your College List? They aren’t nunneries & often have co-enrollment with Co-Ed campuses. It’s life-long mentorship, where as a woman your success is THE focus.
Founding a startup? Don’t leave your day job just yet. Researchers at the Marshall School of Business found that startups were 33% more likely to survive if their founders didn’t quit their jobs right away. forbes.com/sites/forbesbusin…
