Just before my time, but @ThompsonMaggie reminds me that one of the COMICS BUYER'S GUIDE issues created as props (another was in CHASING AMY) was for an episode of Bob Newhart's BOB series, where he's a comics creator. In the Jan. 29, 1993 episode, he takes out an ad in CBG!

35 years ago I was getting ready to see BATMAN for the first of a dozen times; this month I put the finishing touches on my new prose sequel, BATMAN: RESURRECTION.
But 5 years ago today, I posted something cool on my @Comichron site: the comics sales charts from June 1989!
The BATMAN film came out 30 years ago this weekend, so we've just posted the June 1989 distributor sales charts for both Diamond and Capital. See what was selling!
Capital (with its actual sales figures!): bit.ly/Jun89ComicsC
Diamond: bit.ly/Jun89Comics #Batman30 /1

It's time for Flying Colors 2023 Best-Selling Comics.
To be honest, 2023 was absolutely dominated by two titles--- BATMAN and AMAZING SPIDER-MAN.
There were surprises, tho! The two biggest sales surprises of 2023 are VOID RIVALS and TRANSFORMERS from @Skybound /Hasbro.

I say this with a heavy heart, My father passed away peacefully in his sleep. He is a legend in the art world and it would be my honor to follow in his footsteps. Please keep your thoughts and condolences here out of respect for my family.
He was the greatest man I ever met. – at New York, USA

30 years ago, Superman died!
It was big news.
Some thought they were buying a gold brick not just a good comic book story.
Article here is from '92.
One guy who bought Superman #75 from us thought the comic book would one day help put his kid through college. Ha!

These numbers are so insanely successful that they seem unbelievable. But I'm being told they are accurate, at least in the big picture, from multiple sources.
