Rail is vitally important to the continued success and growth of Alberta's economy. Every day, it transports Alberta products to market and delivers goods to communities across the province. Alberta Municipalities (ABmunis) has spoken with our federal counterparts and the provincial government on the potential rail transportation shutdown and the impact it could have on Alberta's communities and businesses. We are hopeful a shutdown can be avoided through last-minute negotiations between the railways and the union representing 9,000 rail workers. We support our members’ call for the federal government to take immediate action to help keep Canada’s railways running smoothly. #ABmunis

Local government is the most transparent and accountable of any level of government. All of our council meetings are held in public, budget deliberations are held in public, and we are face to face with our citizens everyday in our community.
It will ensure local councils and elected officials remain accountable to the citizens who elected them. That’s what Albertans expect, and that’s what we’re going to do.

Finding new revenue sources is critical for our municipality in order to deliver the services and capital projects our residents need. One way is through trading carbon credits from our renewable energy projects.

Political parties at the municipal level will add zero value and only serve to weaken the one functioning level of government imho.
70% of Albertans have said they do not want the divisiveness of political parties disrupting their communities. Municipal elected officials need to continue to work on local challenges and not focus on the interests of their parties.
