It really is a bit infuriating, isn't it? These people go out of their way to destroy everything that means anything to you, and they do it while they LARP impoverished Japanese salary-men from expensive apartments furnished with Funko Pops and unworking spouses they isolate.

Eating a few hundred dollars of nice fish is worse than destroying all human ambition and agency forever.

i went to a halloween party where a guy was dressed up as patrick bateman. like, insanely good costume--blood on his face, the tiny headphones, raincoat, everything. i asked him to tell me about huey lewis & the news. "who?" and then i went to another and it happened AGAIN.

Lol funny enough neither did yours? Which is weird since we shared ~50 moots. I think they’ve just been fucking with the notification algo recently. Like half my replies from non moots don’t generate notifications it seems.

All of humanity is placed in a wood chipper that will be turned on in 24 hours. As it stands, there are too many people in the wood chipper for it to function, but if it was at <50% capacity, it would work. You are free to walk out at any time before it turns on. Do you walk out?

i don't really care about this specific instance because video games are for babies but there is something funny to me about ais orgs paying this type of guy >$400k to "help solve alignment" when they're all such treatlerites that they have made scalping *toys* profitable

every morning when i wake up the restaurant next to where i live starts up its operations, right around 08:00. suddenly, the room where i sleep starts to be filled with delightful scents, that i under no circumstances should be thinking about the source of, for financial reasons

if i genuinely like someone the shape of my ability to disagree with them becomes progressively more childish as i begin to within my heart lose the ability to make them less important to me despite their stupid actions and also lose faith in their ability to engage meaningfully

This is worth reading! I have somewhat conflicting thoughts around it (there are a few of Borretti's blog posts that I have written fairly extensive notes on how my thoughts conflict with recently, even if I usually agree with the spirit of them heavily), but it's worth reading.
New from me: why the post-singularity future may be a lonely place.

The most beautiful thing in Tokyo is McDonald's. The most beautiful thing in Beijing is McDonald's. The most beautiful thing in Florence is McDonald's. Havana and Moscow don't have anything beautiful yet.

my friends are much faster than me, which poses problems when walking together, as i have a very leisurely stroll. you ever see alaskan sled dogs?

the other day my friend and i tried to feed a slice of pizza to a coyote we met in the park and while it seemed to be interested it was nonetheless too afraid of us to take the offering we had so enthusiastically prepared for it. this says a lot about society, i think.
