Real contact and real support don’t require you to hand over your identity, your nervous system, or your agency to prove you’re legitimate. Stay small until you’re steady. Use a name that isn’t tied to your job, your kids, or your address. Keep the private details private. Notice who asks for them early and why. The field has people who have been through actual experiences and people who have learned the language well enough to borrow credibility from those who have. The difference is usually felt more than explained: one leaves you clearer and more yourself; the other leaves you smaller, more dependent, afraid to step away. You don’t need a hierarchy. You don’t need a handler. You don’t need to earn your way into a room by performing openness or silence. The ones who truly want the field to be safer for new people will not rush you, will not ask for your full name, and will not treat your caution as a problem to solve.
