Do people imagine Mao *decided* to crash the agricultural sector and off tens of millions of people? When you have a highly populous and dense country which is also highly food insecure, famines killing millions tends to be an unfortunately common occurence.
is china the country it is today only bc mao killed millions as a means to end like what is the justification of the Chinese and leftists for why such a huge loss of human life was necessary or justified

See the thing about this is that if a white voter said “if this black candidate wins all white people will get murdered” you wouldn’t print that because you would understand that person to be a deranged racist freak and yet you printed this as a legitimate opinion
As I followed pro-El-Sayed Jewish canvasses, I found evidence that Rogers’s ethnic divide-and-conquer strategy was working with at least some Jews. Some expressed outright fear, with one saying that “if Abdul wins, there’s going to be another Holocaust.” jewishcurrents.org/in-michig…

Explain how the killing of two soldiers manning a checkpoint as a part of an illegal military occupation was a “criminal act” please
I’m grieving the deaths of the two Israeli soldiers killed in Hebron today, and praying for the full & speedy recovery of those who were injured. I’ve spoken out loudly this week against Israel’s occupation of the West Bank, which imposes violence on a daily basis, and I will continue to do so. But violence is not the path to ending it — or to achieving safety, freedom, and peace for both Palestinians and Israelis. And neither is collective punishment or ethnic cleansing of an entire neighborhood, or punishing millions of people for the criminal act of two, which Netanyahu has promised to enact in response. I’ve seen a lot this week and I’ll have more to say about in the coming days (I’m on my way home shortly). There is a path to ending this excruciating cycle of violence. It starts by insisting that every life is sacred, that everyone is created in God’s image. For now: Shabbat Shalom, to everyone who believes in the hard work of making peace & justice a reality, for everyone.

this is a fascist empire that values material, immovable, non-sentient objects more than it values human lives and bodies
Mississippi released bodycam footage of the fatal shooting of 1-year-old Kohen Wiley, who was in a moving car when a police officer on a shoplifting call opened fire. The officer was cleared of criminal wrongdoing, but the boy’s family says the shooting was unjustified.

Palestinians have an absolute legal and moral right to resist a genocidal and illegal military occupation. The only parties to blame for these killings are those who sent the occupation gunmen to terrorize and oppress Palestinians and those like @EUinIsrael and the US that fund them.

Jason Alexander says he feared visiting Palestine as a Jew until 10 Palestinians protected him during an Israeli army raid in Ramallah “How much of a risk would I be taking as an American Jew walking into Palestinian cities? And Mohammed said, ‘The greatest dishonor that could happen to a religious Muslim is to allow harm to come to an invited guest’” “And he said, ‘Jason, if they had to, they’ll take a bullet for you.’ And what was so interesting about that trip is, we were having lunch in Ramallah with a bunch of actors and artists at a sort of outdoor restaurant” “And the Israeli army was conducting a raid on a bank that they thought had terrorist ties a couple blocks away. And they must have, to announce themselves, just shot into the air. And I remember 10 of those guys at the table surrounding me. And I went, ‘Oh my God, he wasn’t kidding. They’re not going to let me get hurt’”

As comptroller of Palm Beach County, Florida, Mike Caruso invested $1 billion of the county's money in Israeli bonds. That was 20% of the county's total money and Caruso boasted to reporters that it made Palm Beach County the largest holder of Israeli bonds in the world.

1950s: Automation = 15-hour work weeks (Keynes) 1970s: Computers = 4-day weeks (Nixon) 1990s: Internet = frictionless efficiency 2020s: AI = 3-day weeks Reality? Hours were reallocated market expansion and intensified labor. Nixon told a journalist in 1978: "We are going to have a four-day work week and a five-hour workday within 20 years." Bezos is obviously marketing. But Nixons assumed productivity gains would be distributed as leisure. He was born in in an industrial era Capital doesn't voluntarily give back time. Each tech revolution creates new extraction layers. Efficiency usually expands what we consider necessary work.

On a personal level, I like @ZohranKMamdani and I think his longstanding support for Palestine is sincere (unlike say @aoc). But politicians cannot be judged on intentions and feelings, only by policies and actions. This is a sensible and factual analysis with clear and moderate demands that New Yorkers have every right to make and are well within @NYCMayor’s power. If people aren’t out there protesting and making noise none of it will happen. We just can’t be satisfied with gestures and half measures in year four of this genocide. If you don’t want to go out and demand more that’s your right. But at least don’t attack those willing to do the hard work.

These people are genuinely fucking pathetic cattle. Like a third of the country doesn't even have sentience. America is a fucking disgrace.
Jason Selvig: “Do you feel like your life is better than a year and a half ago?” Trump supporter: “I do, yes”

JS: “In what way?” TS: “Uhm, there’s more things being done. Uhm. Changing a lot of stuff that Biden had messed up” JS: “Like what?” TS: “Uhm, just a little, I can’t name a lot of stuff, but yeah haha”

JS: “What’s one thing that he’s changed that you’re really excited about?” TS: “Uhm. I’m trying to think exactly what… gas prices definitely, yes” JS: “Gas prices have changed, but they’re a little higher now than they were” TS: “Yeah, hopefully they start going down more”
