Brind'Amour on the conversation he had with Nikishin upon his return. "Just welcome back. Say OK, you had an extra month off than everyone else, now you've got to catch up. The other stuff is what it is, and now we've got to just move forward. He's got to get ramped up, and he will."
Brind'Amour said Jankowski will be available tonight. On Hall, who left the skate early, Brind'Amour said, "Maybe just a little something come up, but I would assume he's all right."
Nikishin said he's ready to play but he's "got to do the program, skating and practicing, and hopefully he's going to play soon."
Taylor Hall left the skate about five minutes in and has not returned. As a result, Mark Jankowski is taking PP2 reps again.
PP1: Aho, Blake, Ehlers, and Svechnikov with Gostisbehere
PP2: Jankowski, Jarvis, Kotkaniemi, and Stankoven, with Miller
Nikishin is on the ice for morning skate; Miller just went up to him with a big smile and patted him on the back a few times.
Jankowski, Hall also on the ice; Kochetkov in the starter’s crease.
No
Jokingly asked Kochetkov is he asked for a percentage of Nikishin’s deal, since Nikishin switched to Kochetkov’s agent.
“I asked.”
Kochetkov on Nikishin signing: “What I can say about this situation is he's my friend, right? I'm very happy he’s back, and this is probably good for everybody, for (the) team for sure, for him I hope too.”
Aho on Nikishin: “We all understand that part. And yeah, it's hockey, but it's also business. And obviously we understand it probably wasn't the easiest negotiations, by any means, to say the least. But from our perspective, we're just happy to have him back and hopefully see him here tomorrow.”
