In this day and age where everything has to be filter perfect , nothing less than a 6 pack or a toned stomach suffice.
I no longer have any muscles to define abs, im held in by mesh. My scars got from under my boobs down to my well 😉.
I'm OK with how I look. What about you?

So much more awareness needs to be raised. We have to advocate for ourselves. I've been told by previous consultants that the symptoms were in my head. It's taken two years to get a half diagnosis from gynea and a 6 month wait for vulva dermatology appointments
Excellent article. I have advised several women @jodivineuk who had their LS and vulval cancer misdiagnosed as thrush. Some GPs didn't even examine them! HCPs need better training and people need to be aware of the symptoms, not ignore them or self treat with Canestan #GCAM
How do you apply yours? I used to rip and wrap.
I've now learnt how to mould it to the right size from the hole outwards.

There needs to be so much more advocation for womens reproductive health. We are fobbed off too often and learn to suffer in a circle of silence
If a man had to undergo surgery to have their testes removed (which would mean they wouldn’t produce testosterone), do you think they would leave hospital without a hormone replacement plan? Of course they wouldn’t!
The menopause, and women’s health generally actually, is hugely under funded, under resourced and under researched and it’s really frustrating because so many women end up suffering as a result. This needs to change and I will not stop my work until it does!
It's so important to be aware of ones anatomy and not be ashamed to ask for help, a referral to get it checked.
It annoys me that its automatically assumed that intimate itching is down to stds. I'm still waiting for my vulva dermatology appointment 😪
Stop self treating recurrent itching with Canestan, get it checked. You need to be examined. Ask to be referred to a genital dermatologist if your GP keeps telling you it's thrush. #Notallitchingisthrush #Knowyourvulva #BeVulavAware #VulvarAwarenessDay

For most of us, this is the reality of #chronicillness
I've really not been well for a while.
it's been discovered that my buddy, the cyst, has got a lot larger
Whenever I come up to A&E, I always pack my medication and stoma supplies. Alongside an overnight bag and a wash kit
When you'd been wearing the same clothes for 48 hrs and my amazing husband comes and helps the invalid shower and change into clean pjs. Trousers are a must because I can't shave my legs as I still can't sit down due to the amount of pain it causes.
Heres to new pain meds 🤞
This needs to be implemented. Having experienced 12 hrs in A&E and a pass round, the consultant decided on it, finally being a gynea issue. Even though previous gynea has said its colerectal. Now waiting to be reviewed in CDU
Various conditions in women's health have overlap symptoms with #IBD (eg, endometriosis). Likewise with life transitions (eg, menopause). And others too.
Opportunities are ripe for education on symptom overlap. This will lead to fewer blind alleys and better self-knowledge. ⭐
Eakin slims have always been a must for me. They extend my bag wear time, protect my skin around my stoma and gives me confidence in not experiencing leaks

Crazy to think that bullying is still rife in the ostomate community and how people use their platforms to encourage their followers to troll and bully another person who's currently in hospital fighting their own battle because of a difference of opinion. 😢
