You can dislike Pat, disagree with his opinions, or think his personality is too much. Thatās completely fair.
But weāve reached a dangerous/nasty point where people canāt separate disagreeing with someone from genuinely hating them. The fact that a guy whose job is to talk about sports needs FBI protection because of death threats is insane.
Social media has convinced people that because someone is famous, they are no longer human. You donāt have to like Pat to recognize how disturbing that is.
Sad, Sad, Sad world we live in today. What have we become? What do we aspire to be?
Keep being yourself, Pat. The people who appreciate what you bring to sports far outnumber the ones who want to tear you down.
@PatMcAfeeShow @BostonConnr and the whole Mcafee show.
Itās been a fun October.. excited to get to Halloween. Hereās a couple fun screenshots from this month.
I donāt know if Karey from Derry is real or not but, the picture on the left is from a very real man in Ohio.
Iāve stayed away from my mentions and DMās this month since these back to back days but.. Iām sure if I went in there now, Iād find some wishes for and threats of death for me.
āDonāt read them.ā Theyāre everywhere.
Annnd.. They still exist though right? I just donāt know the person is in Ohio then? Thatās where Iām at now. So I do get a bit fucked up when a couple days after The New York Times releases a āWE ARE ALLOWED TO AND SHOULD HATE THIS GUYā piece, a University puts a video out from their own page, indicating āwe think heās a corny creep here.ā Itās a weird time. The things that get said about what my daughter and son and wife deserve are all rather wild as well.
I havenāt talked to anybody about what the days were like leading up to Tennesseeās GameDay last year. Thereās been some misreporting but in the ball park articles. Everybody in the āsecurityā world was worried of a copycat incident potentially happening. GameDay was a few days out and we were the next huge gathering on a campus. The world, in front of the entire internet, just proved that we had gotten to a rather extreme place.
The FBI.. alongside, Disney security, Tennessee State Police, Knoxville PD, University Police, everybody in area, all had the very same goal to protect the shit out of the area. FBI snipers were sent down there, huge presence of police.. it was a surreal moment. The conversation about the death threats I had been receiving in life was definitely a huge topic. I donāt think it was the FBI that suggested the Bullet Proof Vest, but it was certainly an idea presented by one of the security groups. We had no idea what to expect. Nobody had been in that type of situation before. Everybody wanted the best for everybody. I never felt safer and never felt more appreciative of the people that were around me that morning including the students that came out and did WAY more than they couldāve ever imagined for my soul.
Howād we get here? I had to wrestle with that a bit. FBIās sending snipers so me and the lads donāt get shot. Thatās crazy. I donāt know if they teach how youāre supposed to handle these types of things in classes or something but, I was a bit rattled by the current reality of my World.
I think what I realized was, when I talked about the Algerian Olympic Gold Medal boxer, and then I was HEADLINE Quoted and Captioned by platforms with rather large influence over certain communities, they left out the massive empathy part of the conversation that I had about the entire subject. I was labeled and immediately targeted. Such is life I guess.. since then, every mistake, misstep or misquote relaunches A LOT of folks into a frenzy of me being the worst person on Earth who needs to be eliminated, and they gain more and more folks who want me unalived or as they actually say it āKirked.ā
I was created on the internet. Iāve been ācookedā and shit talked and criticized since I have memories. I am no where near perfect.. and thereās no way everybody is gonna agree with me but I had no idea that this is just what life would become.
Iām trying my best in real time but.. I am to talk about sports and care about the future of sports. I owe everything to sports. Iām grateful as hell to do what I do. I literally try to love every minute of the incredible opportunities I get to experience but.. itās certainly all a much different life than I couldāve ever expected.
I try to give everything I have, all the time.. I am very sorry to those that despise me.
The video is how I opened The Tennessee show.. I put on a USA Sports Coat and celebrated Ball. I love sports because itās unifying. Thatās all Iām ever trying to be⦠actually.
& Connor.. I LOVE YOU BROTHER, Iām sorry Iāve brought you lads into all of this as well.
Pat is a sports personality. You need a lobotomy and a self hugging jacket if youāre threatening a guy, who takes his shirt off and barks at Nick Saban, over some words he said.
Good lord.

My mom was a hippie. My dad was a beatnik.
I was so poor that at one point I worked two jobs and shared a bed with a friend. I got home at 8 AM from a night shift at a bakery, got into his bed, and slept while he went to his day job.
I bought my first computer with my own credit card at age 20 and taught myself HTML. At the time, I worked nights in a giant, city block-sized printing plant in Queens, NY. I took the 7 train home at 2 AM most nights and was spit on and beaten up for being Irish on that train. Like GD Gangs of New York. I got up at 7 AM and coded websites until 11 AM and went to my printing plant job until the wee hours of the morning.
My first website was featured in a book from Japan in 1997 as one of the 100 best-designed websites in the world. That opened doors and eventually brought me to San Francisco in 2004. And you know the rest of the story. It's on my website.
I never begged for money, expected handouts, or called for government intervention in markets because of my difficult existence when I was young.
I worked so hard my eyeballs fell out. And then I worked even more.
And I succeeded well beyond anyoneās expectations because THIS IS AMERICA.
So yes, I have a problem with politicians looking at what someone earns today and deciding they deserve a bigger piece of it. They see a fattened pig ready for the slaughter. I see the decades of sacrifice it took to build it. Even if it's modest.
Calling it a so-called āmillionaires taxā doesn't settle the argument. They already admitted it will apply to everyone. But I want the person cleaning the bakery at 4 AM to build something worth a fortune and keep the rewards. That is what America is about.
Besides, we all pay plenty of tax as it is.
I am voting YES on Initiative 645 to repeal Washingtonās new income tax.
I will never apologize for believing everyone should keep more of what they worked for and earned

There was once a shepherd who found a wolf caught in a snare at the edge of his pasture.
The wolf begged to be freed.
āI was hungry,ā it said. āThat is all. Spare me, and I will remember your mercy!ā
The shepherd cut the rope.
The next night, three lambs were gone.
Again the shepherd found the wolf. Again it pleaded. Again the shepherd convinced himself that mercy was proof of his goodness.
By winter, half the flock was dead.
An old farmer finally asked him, āWhy do you keep freeing it?ā
The shepherd answered, āBecause I refuse to become cruel.ā
The farmer looked at the empty field and said, āThen understand what you have done. You were not merciful to the wolf. You were cruel to everything that trusted you to keep them safe.ā
Thatās the lesson.
Mercy without judgment isnāt virtue. When someone openly intends to destroy what has been entrusted to you, endless forgiveness doesnāt make you righteous. It makes everyone behind you pay for your vanity.
