BBQ smoked duck, the house favorite at Dha Rae Oak in Los Angeles K-Town. – at Koreatown, Los Angeles
Revisiting my all time food city, Los Angeles, and kicking it off with a Nicaraguan nacatamal and indio viejo at Portobanco's in Pico Union.
Signs I'm getting old: Read the whole NYTimes in Houston piece, with subsequent social media BBQ and taco truck wars and shitfits over Chinatown or East Downtown nomenclature... and I've managed to stay uncharacteristically quiet and indifferent about it all 😅
Tonight's Twitter feed reminds me of a bar the night before shutdown blowing out its liquor inventory, with regulars from 10 years ago swarming in crowds to get $3 double shots of single malt.
Maybe I'll get lucky and Twitter's collapse will open a wormhole to an alternate universe where I actually did something with my life 🤷♂️

9 lb pork shoulder turned into a juicy, if slightly charred, Dominican style pernil.
Served with arroz mamposteao (Puerto Rican fried rice and beans) with chorizo. 🇩🇴🇵🇷😋
Another novice attempt at curry: butter chicken with a southern coastal Indian spin, spiked with coconut milk and cashew paste. Garnished with toasted curry leaves and cashews.
Ended up making enough for the coming week or so.
First attempt at dal fry, made with chana dal (split chickpeas) and served over rice.
Wish I had added more chiles, but it came out decent.
Spicy Hungarian style beef goulash served with crusty sourdough bread. Makes me miss Budapest.
Side salad: cucumber, onion, scallion, bacon, Parmesan. Dressing made from kirschwasser, Balsamic, and honey.
Even got the Tokaji ready for an appropriate after dinner drink.
