Worth noting in the context of debates around AI and employment: the US age-adjusted employment-population ratio is essentially back at levels consistent with its 2000 peak.
Replying to @ernietedeschi
Likewise, the age-adjusted employment-population ratio and labor force participation rates have been firming, and are essentially back at dot-com-boom peak levels.

I would like to think, rather, that every parent wants their child to be happy.
Every parent wants a happy child. So we built MDD-PGT, the first genetic predictor of depression for embryo screening. Kids with a lower MDD-PGT tend to sleep better, fight less and enjoy jokes more. With 10 embryos, picking the lowest-risk one cuts depression risk by over 40%.

GDP growth has come in strong so far in 2025. Yet, job growth in 2025 was barely above 0 at 15,000/month. So it looks like an AI productivity boom! ...economic data is never that simply. We may in fact be seeing a productivity boom...but certainty and why are still TBD. 1/

Can’t tell you how many times I’ve almost been run over by a driver turning right on red who looks left for cars but doesn’t look right for pedestrians or cyclists.
AI is great, but turning right on a red light is still the greatest American invention of all time

I thought Murray did a good job at the WSJ but maybe he just doesn't understand how a major metro daily is not the same as a global financial publication.
Yeah when I think about what's essential to my life it just might include books, sports, what's happening on the street I live, and whether we're going to war

No struggling newspaper ever saved itself by becoming a worse and less essential product. But what's happening today at the @washingtonpost is not just the latest devastating contraction of the news industry; it's the gutting of an American institution vital for a healthy society

Fed allies see Trump’’s attempt to upend the central bank as the greatest threat to the institution’s autonomy since Nixon put the screws to Arthur Burns. Unfortunately for the Fed, the coalition that’s preserved its independence is beginning to fray. politico.com/newsletters/mor…
