Disgusting
The BC teachers union president issued this statement today 🥴 "I recognize that with the outcome of a Conservative government, many of us may be feeling disappointed, scared, or deeply concerned about what might come next. I know these results may be particularly concerning for Indigenous, racialized, and 2SLGBTQIA+ members. You are not alone."

That and he didn’t want to spend 2-3 years getting his approvals from the govt.
Replying to @dafast
You mean he didn’t want to pay the “consent” fee?

Maybe tell the Russians to quit sending missiles and quit trying to invade the Ukraine.
May the bloodthirsty warmongers, who push for a war that never ends, burn in hell!

Lowan wowed us during the leadership debate and made a fool of herself on election night.
I think she vowed a bit more than that.

My client wanted to build a $20M plant on private land on private land in maple ridge. Govt officials said he needed consent from the 3 FNs that said it was on their traditional Territory. He said no way! Built his project in Singapore. Six months for shovels in the ground.
Yes, repealing DRIPA does not impact existing rights under Section 35. But it would result in a move back to a ‘consult’ approach versus a ‘consent’ requirement for many resource companies operating in BC on crown land. That one word difference is important.

I pay a cleaner. Do basic stuff or pay a higher cleaning fee. If you want to get hosed in a little hotel room fill your boots.
List of duties I am prepared to do as someone who regularly stays in Airbnbs: - Put trash in bins. Will take a bag to a wheelie bin if it is close by to the door. - Stack the dishwasher and turn it on (handwashing any delicate items) - Throw used towels in a pile in the bathroom

Don’t give up.
Zelenskyy: I wanted the US envoys in Kyiv to visit Bucha. To see the horrific aftermath of Russian occupation and compare it with what Bucha looks like today. I wanted them to see how Ukraine is fighting for life and rebuilding. They didn't find the time. 1/

Not much is trickling down to the members. First Nations all have $Ms in accumulated wealth. Something seriously wrong with the governance of many of the Bands. Fortunately the number with leaders using their assets to create jobs and economic benefit for the Members is growing
Carney says Indigenous Services spending has grown 15% a year on average for a decade, to over $26 billion a year. In French: "we have invested nearly 6 billion dollars" for mental health and primary care. He says it must be spent "as effectively as possible."

Bomb them. The only thing the idiots will understand
🇺🇦🇺🇸🇷🇺 TRUMP WANTS UKRAINE TO STOP BOMBING RUSSIAN REFINERIES. ZELENSKYY SAYS WASHINGTON REJECTED ALL THREE ALTERNATIVES. Volodymyr Zelenskyy says he offered the United States three ways to reduce Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries. According to him, Washington delivered none of them. His first proposal was straightforward: Russia stops attacking Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, and Ukraine stops targeting Russian refineries. The second was to allow Starlink connectivity in specific areas of Russian territory where Ukraine needs to target ballistic missile launchers. The third was to supply additional Patriot interceptor missiles, giving Ukrainian forces a better chance of defending their cities and infrastructure without relying as heavily on strikes against Russian targets. Zelenskyy says none of those requests was fulfilled at the time. Instead, Ukraine faced new restrictions on Starlink. That is the contradiction at the heart of his complaint. Washington wants Kyiv to reduce attacks on Russian energy facilities, partly because of concerns about fuel prices and wider economic consequences. But Ukraine is asking what it receives in return if it gives up one of the few ways it can impose substantial costs on Russia’s war economy. Russian refineries are important targets because fuel production and distribution support both the broader economy and military logistics. Striking them can disrupt operations, force repairs and stretch Russian air defences across a vast territory. Ukraine’s own energy infrastructure, meanwhile, remains vulnerable to Russian missile and drone attacks. Protecting it requires air defence ammunition that Kyiv has repeatedly struggled to obtain in sufficient quantities. Zelenskyy’s proposals address that imbalance from three different directions: reciprocal restraint, the ability to strike missile launchers before they fire, or stronger defences against incoming attacks. His statement describes the outcome of those earlier requests, rather than establishing that every restriction remains unchanged today. But the underlying dispute is difficult to ignore. Ukraine is being asked to limit its ability to hurt Russia economically while still facing attacks on its own infrastructure. For Zelenskyy, stopping refinery strikes cannot simply mean accepting fewer options to defend Ukraine while Moscow retains its existing ones.

There is a transition team and so yeah one and done.
Following their historic landslide victory, the BC Conservatives have secured a majority government. Yet beyond the legislature, the NDP continue to control nearly every public body, from ICBC to BC Ferries, filling key positions with their own appointees. Without holding government, the NDP still command the state apparatus. They have never been the province's 'natural governing party', but if allowed to maintain their institutional footprint, they will come to be seen as the norm rather than the exception. If the @Conservative_BC intend to undo the last decade, they must purge these partisans, shrink the government payroll, and reform the public sector. Policy is essential, but political power is decisive, and without broader institutional control, the new government will be left managing a hostile bureaucracy. My latest for @WDiminishment - Link Below.

NDP seem to thrive on misrepresentation. One of the reasons they are losers today!
CBC platformed Camosun political science instructor Daniel Reeve to analyze Premier-designate Lorne Doerkson and somehow forgot to mention the tiny detail that Reeve himself ran as an NDP candidate (and worked as a ministerial aide to NDP Health Minister Corky Evans) Here’s the “neutral expert” take they ran: “I thought one of the things that jumped out to me is that they are going to go that one of the first things that the premier elect suggested is a financial basically walking through of the budget. And I think that from that analysis, they're going to say, oh, my God, it's worse than we thought. And now we're going to have to impose a whole bunch of cuts so that we don't raise taxes and so that we don't cut health care. And that. That's going to be the financial message that's going to hopefully, from his perspective, hold that center right to kind of far right coalition together and also kind of pin the problems of his government on the past.” Just another dispassionate academic, right? The same lifelong NDP activist who spent years organizing campaigns and working inside an NDP government is now on the public broadcaster framing the new Conservative government as a cynical cut-and-blame operation aimed at “center-right to far-right” voters. Disclosure optional, apparently CBC’s mountain of omissions continues @CBCOmbud @BrodieFenlon

Putin is a murderer and needs to be treated as such by the US. Kissing up to him is pathetic.
🇺🇦 🇷🇺 Zelensky on the Witkoff paper Putin got: no neutrality, no cap on the army, and "we are not exchanging anything for anything," as Medvedev tells Trump to have the CIA "deal with" him Volodymyr Zelensky used a Sunday night television interview to tell Washington what Kyiv will not sign. Asked by Alla Mazur of TSN's weekly show about the document US envoy Steve Witkoff carried to Vladimir Putin after the Oslo talks, Zelensky said it contains "various" American proposals, including on Ukraine's security. Two items are off the table, he said: neutrality and limits on the size of Ukraine's army. "Our security guarantees are our security guarantees, they cannot be dictated by the Russian side," he said. He was blunt about land. "The Americans have long been raising the issue of exchanging territories; they call it land swaps," Zelensky said. "We are not exchanging anything for anything. We are ready for discussion. If it is a territorial issue, then it should be handled at the leaders' level. Other issues should be handled at the level of technical groups." He said all of it can be discussed in November, when US, Ukrainian and Russian teams are expected to meet, possibly in Abu Dhabi. UATV reports he wants that round to produce an energy truce or a Black Sea ceasefire, safe grain exports and an all-for-all prisoner exchange, and that he does not want all sanctions on Russia lifted before a leaders' meeting. He also put Ukraine's 2027 funding need at 115 billion euros. Moscow's tone was harsher. Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council and a former president, posted on the Russian platform Max that Trump should summon "the secretary of war and the CIA director" and have them resolve the Zelensky problem, adding that "the method, place, and means do not matter". The Daily Mail renders the line as "take care of this 'unfortunate little problem.'" Medvedev, who has no authority over US agencies, called Zelensky a "parasite" and claimed he harms Trump's interests more than Venezuela, Cuba and Iran combined. Earlier Sunday, Putin aide Yuri Ushakov told state TV that Moscow is ready to return to three-way talks after Russia's Nov. 4 holiday, calling the first meeting a "trial run," the Kyiv Independent reported. The interview is the clearest public account yet of where the Witkoff track snags. Washington keeps floating land swaps, Kyiv says only presidents can trade territory, and Moscow wants a deal it can close with Trump directly. Zelensky's ask for November is narrow and concrete: energy, the Black Sea, grain and prisoners. Medvedev's post shows how hard the Kremlin is working to drive a wedge between Trump and Zelensky in the weeks before the midterms and the talks. 📹 @Gianl1974

Kim is an excellent choice to head the government transition team. I was privileged to work with her as a new MLA/Cabinet Minister. My experience was that she built strong BC Public Service team while also understanding the importance of supporting the Executive Team.
