A child was having a hard day yesterday at the school I visited, so the principal asked if I could help her do a STEM challenge…
So we tried some KEVA planks & she figured it out
And when I saw her later in the day, she was all smiles & asked “when can we do another challenge?”
And if you’re wondering, the challenge card is from this set of Brain Builders from @KEVAplanks (there’s also a Jr edition for younger kids to build)

My students were practically fighting over my couple Rubik’s cubes in my classroom, so I found a 3x3 & two 2x2 on eBay for under $10 total.
Met a teacher yesterday who expanded his class reading Lord of the Flies by adding a variety of hands on projects (including making parts of the island)
It was a great way to incorporate some social studies & science standards

It's been a busy week already, is it only Tuesday! 😮
The year 5/6 class at Othery Primary created these little individual astronauts. Lots of lovely inventive, imaginative ideas.
So, two days done, every kid involved, Reception to Year 6. Off to the next school tomorrow. 😁

Okay, how is this the first time I’ve seen this idea…
The multiples of a number written on a number!
Great example of design thinking and creativity…
Someone saw the Pro football Hall of Fame and thought “that looks like a citrus fruit juicer” and decided to make that happen.
Saw the new Alton Brown tour show…
Like previous tours and his work on TV, lots of humor & stories….
And I’m a math and science teacher, lots of great ideas for food science.
See it for yourself!
Hey teachers, it’s a new week…
New opportunities for you and your students to build skills & confidence.

The best part? Parents who got to hold in their hand a 3d printed cookie cutter they designed all by themselves!
STEM is rocket science & flying cars, but parents need to know how easy it is to get started & help their own kids be better at STEM!
Wow!
