@danlewer, @tdbrothers and colleagues explain why risk factors for health outcomes shouldn't be studied by putting several independent variables into a regression model and identifying which are statistically significant in a new Methods Primer.

New paper explores patterns and perceptions of vaping among adults living in social housing🏠
Despite higher vaping rates in social housing residents, harm perceptions of vaping products vs cigarettes were more inaccurate among smokers in social housing
link.springer.com/article/10…

ALT In Great Britain, adults who live in social housing are more likely to vape than those who live in other housing types, even after accounting for their younger age and higher smoking rates. However, misperceptions about the relative harms of vaping products and tobacco are common among smokers living in social housing. Interventions addressing these misperceptions could help encourage more people living in social housing to switch from smoking to vaping and reduce smoking-related health inequalities.

Let me know how you think we can deliver a better NHS here 👇

Our findings suggest that school environments could reduce depressive symptoms by:
📍Prioritising learning, development & growth over achievement
📍Seeing mistakes as opportunities for growth & development
📍 comparing with past performance rather than to other students
Now published in @LancetChildAdol
- the longitudinal association between adolescents' achievement goals and depressive symptoms with @GemmaLewis13 @GlynLewis9 and Katherine Lange

The most NHS thing I've seen is a computer with two mice - one capable of moving the pointer but with unresponsive buttons, the other with working buttons but no control of the pointer.

Is there good stuff to read about multiple imputation where purpose of the analysis is causal inference?
For covariate adjustment, borrowing information from the future is generally frowned upon
But MI routinely includes data on the outcome in the imputation model
