✍️ Playdate developers: the Swift team's newly-announced embedded language support means you can now write Playdate games in Swift! Read more about it on the Swift blog: swift.org/blog/byte-sized-sw…

The quality of the artwork in these games is amazing!

I love the community that has formed around Playdate. My mind is completely blown by the great job and sheer amount of work put into these game awards! Thank you @TYMplaydateshow and @Guv_Bubbs and all of the presenters and game makers!!
Did you catch last Thursday's big gaming awards show? That's right, the 2022 Playdate Community Awards! They were wonderful. Awards! Games!

🧵 Here's a big thread of some of the highlights. Enjoy.
@Apple @AppleSupport @tim_cook Just so you know, this is what my Twitter timeline looks like today. Are you sure spending your ad money here is really the best plan? Gross.

Portland folks! Next weekend (Oct 21-22) I’ll be exhibiting more than 100 vintage calculators from my collection! (All from 1968-1983.) If you’re in the area, are interested in design and vintage tech, DM me — I still have spots left for people to come and check it out.

Not to play favorites, but this week some of my favorite Playdate games are out: b360 and Ratcheteer. Both have soundtracks out on Bandcamp! First, there's b360, a game 40 years in the making… play.date/games/b360/
How did we end up with two very good weird movies with strangely long titles and kaleidoscope posters at the same time? Is this a Volcano/Dante’s Peak situation?

First PhotoBooth, now Freeform! Apple has liked two of my app names so much they’ve taken them for themselves (my Freeform app has sadly not been for a sale for a long while now 😢) stuntsoftware.com/freeform/ #WWDC22
You know, you work on a thing for years, and sometimes you wonder if it was all worth it. And then sometimes, if you’re really lucky, you get to see clearly and without a doubt that it absolutely was.
And then… then, my friends… there’s “A Joke That’s Worth $0.99”.
There’s nothing we can add to this very important video. Which you absolutely must watch now with sound on.

Oh! A new Playdate Update video is here!
It recaps the great developer things we've released this year, like Pulp and the Playdate SDK. Please enjoy it. youtu.be/BmrtkBmFSn4
There's one extra important bit in the update. Playdates in Group One will begin shipping…
…today.

Panic is hiring! It's a very great place to work
In other news, after nearly 10 years at Panic, we recently bid farewell to our testing expert, Ashur. We miss him so much already.
But, this means we now have a rare job opening on the Playdate team for a Senior QA / Release Engineer.
