We've helped 26 companies raise $46,000,000 in the past year at @MetaDAOProject. Here are a a few takeaways for the founders out there from the past ~6 months of leading investing at MetaDAO: You need one of three things in order to get investors interest: something net-new (0-1), a distribution moat, or a 100x improvement vs your incumbents, you need to go back to the drawing board because it is unlikely you will raise a round Founders say too many words on calls. That lessens your power. Your language should be concise about what you're doing, why you're doing it, and a compelling reason as to why you're going to win. If you're raising to figure out distribution, show me what you've already tried. I need to see that you're learning and iterating FAST. You don't need a fully solved growth engine, but it's hard to get comfortable funding a large marketing budget when you haven't run a small acquisition experiment. Don't undersell traction because the number is small. 10 people choosing to use an early product is great!! I want to know who they are, what they're doing, and whether they're coming back. Help me understand why they care

The hard part of an early product is not deciding what to add. It is deciding what should survive. I saw this around DevRel programs, hackathons, and grant reviews. A room would create energy. A team would ship something promising. A contributor would do the work. Then the next step arrived and the useful details had evaporated into a chat, a spreadsheet, or somebody's memory. That is how products get vague. They try to hold an entire ecosystem, while the moment that actually matters is much smaller: moving from "something happened" to "someone can act on it." A builder should not have to re-explain the work behind an opportunity. A company should not have to reconstruct a contributor every time a new role opens. A good product gives the next decision a little more history. I think the strongest Web3 products will be the ones that make progress easier to carry forward.

Everyone read the Electric Capital numbers as crypto losing its developers. Look at the split instead. Devs with 2+ years tenure: up ~27% YoY, now producing ~70% of commits. Devs under 12 months: down ~58%. The pool didn't shrink. It concentrated. Every hire now matters more than it did in 2021.

AI is making fake credibility cheaper. Web3 still makes real credibility too manual. Honest builders already patch trust together from wallets, repos, hackathon pages, grant comments, and private referrals. Scammers now get better language, better role-play, and better impersonation at scale. If fake trust gets cheaper, real trust has to get easier to verify. Otherwise the people doing the work keep paying the trust tax.

What actually slows Web3 hiring down once you've already met good builders? Usually not sourcing. It's retrieval. I've seen this after hackathons, during grant reviews, and in those later hiring conversations where everyone knows the name but nobody has the full trail close at hand. One person remembers the builder from a late-night unblock. Someone else remembers the application. A founder has their name somewhere in Telegram. Then a real role opens, and all of that history collapses into one basic ask: can you send your profile? That is the part I think we still underbuild. At @dappingHQ, I care less about turning jobs into another isolated feed and more about keeping the builder trail, company trail, and opportunity trail close enough together that hiring starts with context instead of reconstruction. A lot of Web3 hiring still treats missing memory like missing talent. Those are not the same problem.

Why is it still easier to verify a token than a Web3 company? I can inspect supply, holders, docs, and contract history in a few minutes. Then I click through to the team and the picture gets thin fast. Who is actually building. What they shipped before this cycle. Whether the same people are still there a quarter later. Who in the ecosystem would choose to work with them again. For a market that talks nonstop about transparency, that asymmetry is strange. We built a lot of infrastructure around assets. We still leave too much guesswork around the people and companies behind them. That leaks into hiring, BD, grants, events, and simple outreach. The polished surface gets trusted first because the operating history takes longer to check. Part of what I want dApp.ing to make normal is a market where builder and company history is easier to inspect before the DM, before the intro, and before the application. The next serious Web3 products will reduce that guesswork. Not add more noise around it.

Some of the strongest Web3 builders still look junior on paper. In Web3, real experience often arrives in fragments: Hackathon win. Bounty fix. Grant milestone. Shipped feature. Line those up and you often get judgment, speed, and repeated trust. Read them like a normal CV and they can look like short stints with weak continuity. That is a hiring problem, not a talent problem. One design question we keep coming back to at @dappingHQ: how should non-linear builder proof read like one continuous record?

After reviewing 250+ grant applications, one thing still bothers me. The hardest part was rarely spotting ambition. It was reconstructing continuity. What had this builder shipped before this? Who had they built with? What happened after the last hackathon or milestone? A lot of serious signal existed. It was just scattered across wallets, repos, demo pages, event sites, chat threads, and half-readable profiles. That creates a bias toward whoever is easiest to parse quickly, not always whoever has the strongest builder history. One reason @dappingHQ keeps focusing on connected professional context: serious work should travel with the builder, not reset to zero every time funding, hiring, or trust is on the table.

One builder signal I trust more now than I did a few years ago: I pay less attention to the best demo in the room and more attention to who follows up 48 hours later. After hackathons, grants, or event weeks, there is usually a split.

Some of the best Web3 conversations never happen on stage. They happen after the panel, outside the side event, or at the end of a meetup when people finally talk honestly. That is where you learn who is actually shipping, who needs an intro, and which builder quietly has real momentum. The problem is how little of that context survives the room. It moves to Telegram, gets buried in a thread, and disappears for everyone who was not there. Web3 is good at rooms. Still bad at memory between them. Good ecosystems should preserve context after the room clears.

Web3 hiring keeps missing builders who already proved they can ship. Not because the talent is missing. Because the proof is scattered. Hackathon demo. Grant milestone. DAO contribution. Wallet history. Repo. Event sprint. By the time a team is hiring, the context is buried across pages, chats, and forms. So teams default to what is easiest to verify fast: - easy to find - easy to verify - already known That is not the same thing as best for the role. Strong work should travel with the builder. That's @dappingHQ.

On January 13, 2026, @chainalysis estimated $17B was stolen in crypto scams and fraud in 2025. The number matters. The second-order effect matters more. Every serious builder now pays a context tax before replying to a message. Recruiter DM. Founder intro. Support account. Partnership note. So people open X, LinkedIn, Telegram, wallet history, and mutuals before they answer. Chainalysis also found AI-enabled scams were 4.5x more profitable than traditional ones. Impersonation got cheaper. Web3 needs better professional trust infrastructure around profiles, companies, and opportunities.

The biggest leak in Web3 talent happens after the applause. A builder can ship something real, get good feedback, maybe even win, and still disappear two weeks later. Not because the work was weak. The context gets lost. Repo in one place. Demo on a hackathon page. Follow-up in Telegram. Grant application starts from zero. Hiring team sees none of the room where the work happened. Web3 is good at event energy. It is still bad at professional memory. Strong builders should not have to rebuild trust from scratch after every room. That is part of why I care about @dappingHQ.
