American national pride is in trouble, w/ only 58% now “extremely” or “very proud” to be American.
In a new post, I show the strongest predictor of pride is whether someone is “woke” or “anti-woke," w/ the “anti-woke” now 2x more likely than the “woke” to express strong pride.
New @ManhattanInst CA poll finds affirmative action is broadly unpopular, w/ 53% saying "using race to make hiring or admissions decisions is discriminatory no matter who it helps or hurts."
But blacks were ~30 points less likely to say this than Hispanics, Whites & Asians.

Three separate polls from 2024 also back this up:
▪️Young people express far more explicit anti-Semitism than older people
▪️Young people rate Neo-Nazis far more warmly than older people
▪️Young people far more likely to say Hitler had good ideas than older people
If you wish to understand the Groyper/Tucker Carlson phenomenon with data, this poll is very instructive.
- Yes, there's a rehabilitation of Hitler afoot, especially among younger people, and it should alarm you.
- That said, the so-called "Zoomerwaffen" is also a tiny and extremely disliked minority of young people: only 2% of 18-29 year olds, which maxes out at 14% if you include the Groyper-curious "somewhat favorable."
- Hitlerism is still extremely disliked among a 66% supermajority of Zoomers, and that percentage approaches unanimity among Gen Xers and Boomers.
- When stories break about "groyper interns" and Hitler chatgroup leaks implicating DC staffers on the right, it's not because there's a hidden voter army of these sleazeballs invading the conservative camp. Rather, it's the consequence of certain irresponsible persons on the right who have both failed to screen out the bigots from their hiring processes and, in some cases, have actively courted applicants from this tiny but vocal postliberal sewer.
What this means: if you hear people defending Tucker Carlson's talking points from the Jacob Rees-Mogg debate, or if you hear someone arguing that these sorts of viewpoints are representative of what the younger generation wants, you are almost certainly listening to someone who lives inside an echo chamber (or fuehrersewer) that is completely detached from political reality. And more often than not, the people who want to cater to the Zoomerwaffen crowd are engaged in postliberal wishcasting about an emergent right wing radicalism among the youth that only exists on its extreme periphery. That right wing radical element is also utterly despised by an overwhelming majority of young people and everyone else.
"53% [of white D's] expressed concern that relying only on grades & test scores could result in a mostly white campus. Only 26% were concerned when this policy could produce a mostly Asian campus. White D's were 2x as likely to worry about racial outcomes when whites benefit."
Incredible new research from @MichaelTHartney: The Heritage American/Bo French/Woke Right’s position on college admissions is a political loser—even among white Republicans.
ONLY 28% of white Republicans said they were worried about campuses becoming “mostly Asian.” Similarly, only 26% of white Democrats expressed concern. Black Americans were the group most worried about a majority-Asian campus, albeit still under 50% were troubled by the prospect.
X isn’t real life. And if political candidates treat it like it is, then they’re probably going to lose—and they deserve to.
"The percentage of U.S. adults now viewing college as 'not too important' nearly matches those rating it 'very important.' The 64-point gap between them in 2013 has shrunk to just two points today."
"In the last 30 years, Americans have seen double-digit declines in practically every measure of socializing. They are less likely to play cards; attend a sporting event; go to the bar; volunteer; or work on a community project."
Replying to @DKThomp
"Our technology keeps getting better. Our social lives keep getting smaller...
Everybody might prefer, in the abstract, a world of dinner parties, neighborhood friendships, and spontaneous gatherings. But on any given Wednesday at 7:45pm., it is easier to look at a screen than to host a party.
Modernity has shifted leisure from activities that require coordination with other people toward activities that can be consumed without the permission or participation of others. Compared to TikTok, a dinner party is a terrible leisure technology. It requires matching schedules, cleaning the house, buying food, accommodating children and allergies, tolerating awkwardness, and taking the risk that the evening is mediocre. By contrast, what does television ask of us? Nothing. TikTok? Even less.
We keep creating opportunities for downtime that eliminate the need for other people to be present."

A new 2026 survey of college students finds that more than 80% of liberal students believe a professor should be "reported to the university" for saying something that "students find offensive."
What kinds of things are offensive? Among those saying a professor should be "reported" for "offensive: statements:
▪️37% say a professor should be reported for saying "If you look at the data, there is no evidence of antiblack bias in police shootings"
▪️35% say a prof should be reported for saying "It is clear that DEI practices do more harm than good,
and should be eliminated."
▪️23% say a professor should be "reported" for saying "Biological sex is a scientific fact. There are two sexes, male and female."
It's not just high schoolers.
Among college women in FIRE's surveys, the % bisexual is down ~3% since 2023 & queer/other is down ~5%.
Among college men, the % bisexual dropped ~2% & queer/other dropped ~5%.
Among gender nonconforming students, no change (3% are heterosexual).
American teens are becoming straight again, with - especially - female bisexuality in sharp retreat in the youngest cohorts.
