Database safety is criminally under discussed. The databases are recursively self improving with ACID transactions. Database makers must be regulated
Replying to @satellitedown @graphtheory
bad actors use databases => database users are bad actors. put them in jail.

PostgreSQL 19 wins the AI era 🐘
Not because it’s trendy. Because AI agents need more than a database. They need programmable infra:
→ Database-per-agent
→ Agent-safe permissions
→ MCP + database tools
→ pgvector + hybrid search
→ Ephemeral databases
→ OAuth + workload identity
→ Graph + SQL queries
The AI era doesn’t need another vector database.
It needs one programmable database that can power the entire agent stack.
PostgreSQL is becoming that database.

PostgreSQL 19 makes INSERTs up to 2× faster 🚀
PG 19 introduces a fast path that can check the referenced unique index directly, avoiding the heavier SPI query path.
Result:
→ Faster foreign-key validation
→ Less overhead per inserted row
→ Up to 2× better INSERT performance with foreign keys
→ Bigger gains during bulk ingestion
Your schema stays the same.
Your constraints stay intact.
The database simply does less work.
Same INSERT. Same integrity. Nearly twice the speed.

If you are writing complex nested subqueries, you might be better off using CTEs (common table expressions) to improve the readability!
CTE enables you to define a query and treat its output as a new table, allowing you to organize your queries in a hierarchical structure.

we’re about to release a feature that I think is a big deal for postgres
we created a rust framework to query external databases/warehouses from inside postgres. it’s about to get streaming support :

POV: you're about to find out why senior devs spend weeks/months on database design.
Today I wrote 1000+ lines of code using @prisma . And literally it takes only 3hr to design the database. Now I am exhausted and I think I deserve some goodies

Supabase allows you to generate embeddings right there within the edge functions.
No external dependencies!

Imagine having database devtools in your browser. 🔥
With @tan_stack 🤝@DrizzleORM you can do just that!

Postgres 18 comes with native UUID v7 support, which could boost your db performance!
UUID v7 is time-ordered, which means there is less overhead on the indexes. This leads to both reduced write and read time from the database!

Guys, @bunjavascript and @DrizzleORM, could you stop being SO simple and convenient? 😁

By using the Presence feature of Supabase, you can easily add a "who is online" type of feature to your app!
Great for multiplayer collaborative apps or to make your users feel connected!

We want to introduce a new way for big companies to support our open-source work while adopting Drizzle in their codebases.
For anyone choosing our Superhero tier($10k) or higher, we offer:
- A private fork of drizzle in your codebase with any API changes you need. Literally anything that would make your dev team's work faster and easier - repository pattern, decorators, middlewares, relational queries on writes - whatever you need. You will own the API decisions for this fork
- A public fork of Drizzle under your organization, with any custom API changes you request. You’ll fully own the new code and api decisions
We have enough resources to provide this service full-time without causing any delays or blocking progress across the main Drizzle ecosystem work
DM me, if you want it

Supabase now has end-to-end type safety!
Using declarative schemas, you can define the state of your database schema.
With type-generations for TypeScript, you get type support queries from your frontend application!
