Just got Apple’s statement on cracked / broken inner screens on some iPhone Duo units:
“We are aware of an issue impacting the inner display on a small number of iPhone Duo units. If users experience issues with their iPhone Duo display, they should contact AppleCare for a replacement.”
A few more points from Apple:
➡️ The issue is affecting a very small number of units.
➡️ The defect appears to show up relatively quickly after people begin using the device
