Yes. @MeshackBevhulas Borders are already being opened with or without EFF in government. Our country alone this year signed bilateral agreements with about 8 African States which allows us to trade with more eased terms. The 2063 African Agenda is being implemented. You can keep shouting and screaming Mabahambe but borderless Africa is happening even as we speak. You should see the agreement we signed with Lesotho , Botswana and Rwanda...wow ! The best. Ooops! You missed it when you were screaming Mabahambe. Check it online.
Dear EFF members Are we still opening the borders?

Most of the debate around the Russian Empire potentially having a higher nominal GDP in x hypothetical year seems to treat the Russian Revolution as some kind of alien invasion and not a reflection of the dysfunction/failures of the Empire.

What do you mean ActionSA prioritises poor black South Africans, but the EFF does not? ActionSA wants to scrap BEE, replace racial quotas with tax incentives for employers, scrap minimum wage, make scrap labour laws, reduce labour rules for new businesses and attract private investors through tax incentives. Who is going to benefit from this in a country where wealth and business ownership are insanely skewed? The EFF proposes land redistribution to black communities, permanent jobs through insourcing, 80% of municipal procurement for local SMMEs and township businesses, 40% of municipal employment opportunities for young people, and free basic services for qualifying poor households. So please explain how ActionSA prioritises poor black South Africans more than the EFF does. Let’s talk about actual policies.
EFF is finding out in real time that South Africans want to be prioritised.

I find it amusing that your chart stops in 1935. I wonder why that is..... Here is the entire 20th century, for those interested (Imperial Russia, USSR, Russian Federation):

If these people could read, they would have noticed that the graph shows Nicholas II wiping out 25 years of progress in just two years by jumping into WW1, until the Bolsheviks took over and restored output to pre-war levels within 10 years.
The reality: Communists destroyed the Russian economy and derailed the very successful industrialization under Nicholas II. There was literally no reason for a 15-year gap of terror and mass murder, and then having to play catch-up with even more terror and mass murder

Actually makes for a pretty interesting alternate history scenario.

The green line isn't even a realistic prediction, it's just a trend line from before 1916. A realistic graph of Russian steel production would look like the line in blue.

I keep asking and I get no answer, the tsardom was clearly doing really well up to and during 1917, why wouldn't the Bolsheviks just sit around and wait for them to take Russia to space by like 1940? Then they could have had their revolution!

Ahead of tomorrow's Camdessus Lecture on Japan, three numbers from Japan's Ministry of Finance are worth having in view: • Japanese government bonds and bills outstanding: ¥1,142 trillion (June 2026). • Held by the Bank of Japan: 41.2%. Held by foreign investors: 13.1%. • FY2026 budget: interest payments ¥13.1 trillion, against tax and stamp revenue of ¥83.7 trillion, about 16% (our calculation). South Africa: gross debt 78.4% of GDP (MTBPS, October 2026); debt-service costs took 21.3% of main-budget revenue in 2025/26 (Treasury). What decides the burden is not only the size of the debt. It is the currency the debt is owed in, who holds it, and the interest rate the central bank chooses. Japan's own projections show the last point: with long-term rates rising as the Bank of Japan leaves ultra-low rates, the Finance Ministry expects interest payments to rise about 70% by fiscal 2029. For African treasuries, the lesson is practical: • borrow in domestic currency and reduce hard-currency issuance; • let the central bank stand behind the domestic yield curve, as the Bank of England did "on whatever scale is necessary" in September 2022; • treat the policy rate as a fiscal decision and publish its cost. The interest bill is a policy choice before it is a market verdict.
Join us Friday, Nov 6, for the 2026 Michel Camdessus Lecture with Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda on lessons learned from Japan's current account surplus, followed by a conversation with @KGeorgieva: imf.org/en/news/seminars/con…

ANC policy is socially progressive; economic policy is conservative. Companies Act/Investor Supremacy is super right wing. VAT is textbook regressive. Financialisation (Treasury & SARB are Thatcherite insti) killed Local Factories. RDP, NDP, Setas, Nursing/Teaching Schools, OBE…
This is true and anyone who tries to deny it is disingenuous. Nobody can match the ANC on paper. Its just that nobody can match the ANC on corruption and lack of service delivery either.
