I know you want to make a sweeping generalization and score a cheap “gotcha,” but the fundamental flaw in these headlines is the assumption that AI will never improve.
And boy, will it improve fast.
AI will discover new drugs. AI will cure diseases. AI will revolutionize scientific discovery.
Ignore the noise.

Sadly my layoffs and data moratorium predictions are coming true...

Imagine if that assassin had succeeded and Trump had died? He would be thought of as Jesus by MAGA. Thankfully we got to see what a shit show his second admin actually was.
Moral of the story: assassinations are dumb. Try to have better ideas and execution skills than the other guy.
This is now kicking into high gear. The whole "AI is just a tool" argument was copium that stopped being true for software engineers after Opus 4.5, and has been eating away at more and more roles since (a trend that will only accelerate as more capable models come out).
Companies that are purely software businesses are going to feel the most impact as margins get compressed. More competition, customers pushing back on pricing because they can vibe-code their own solutions or find cheaper alternatives, and companies realizing they can do the same amount of work, or even more, with fewer people.
The cutthroat calculus is that it's better to give your top people more tokens than to spread the work across a larger team. And the even more bitter calculus is that keeping a lot of those people around may actually be a net negative.
Trying out a new ad + demo format.
The formula is: a quick hook + computer use recording of the product + avatar video talking through it
Then stitch it together so it feels like a person is demoing the app like they are using ReelBird (free Screen Studio alternative).
This is for my Sign up sheet app called Dibs

Mourinho as Benoit Blanc was not something I thought I needed. But now I do.

Needed to get hyped for the week so here we are.
Opus 5.5 Directing + Codex Images + H3 Max Turbo + Suno v6-wild Music
in a way this is a more direct and efficient way to distill a parent model. dont need to create an artificial dataset of thinking traces.
We asked GPT-6 Astra to edit Qwen3.5-0.8B weights to improve math.
It directly changed only 0.016% of weights, fixing 0.8B's reasoning loops & improving math up to 6x and even instruction following 3x, without gradients or training.
We call this Weight-Space Programming: frontier LLMs can now natively read/write neural network weights! 🧵
Blog: rikiyat.github.io/blog/weigh…
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
LLM was given weights explicitly as text in prompt and used code/forward passes (per authors' logs) to ablate Qwen looping direction, a known thinking-mode issue per model card. Primarily fixed repetition in that mode, not general 'natively' improving weights/math.

I got over 80K views within a couple of days on Instagram on this one!
Might pivot that channel to body language analysis. 😆
Stoner might be the only audiobook I've ever listened to where I loved the book but hated every single character.
I dunno why ppl are freaking out. This is at worst a 2 month problem
Believe it or not, in a week or two we'll probably have new models from Anthropic and hopefully OpenAI, making today's Opus 5.5 feel as painful to use as Astra does now.
The hedonic treadmill of intelligence keeps accelerating.
We will look back in bewilderment at the fact that so many people bought the argument they will be needed to "supervise" superintelligence.

Such a great interview. I hadn’t realized Caro’s archive was at the New-York Historical Society. An extraordinary amount of research, including stories of people most of us have never heard of who played consequential roles in history.
Dwarkesh made a point that stuck with me: even if LBJ had never become president, the lives Caro captured along the way would still make for extraordinary reading. Their depth doesn’t depend on their proximity to someone famous.
I’m currently reading Stoner by John Williams, and there’s a connection here. It’s a beautifully written novel about an ostensibly ordinary life. But the closer you look, the less ordinary it becomes. You don’t need a president at the center of a story for it to have depth.
An idea for a project: explore Caro’s notes (leveraging AI), follow the rabbit holes, and use them as a starting point for biographies of people who might otherwise remain obscure. Written accounts, or short video portraits which, frankly, are more likely to reach people today.
Some will find the idea of using AI on Caro’s work sacrilegious. But how many people will ever sit down with those archival notes? With careful sourcing and editing, there’s an opportunity to bring the lives he spent decades researching to a much wider audience.
That strikes me as a service to his work, and to the people in it.
OK - this gave me an idea of a South Park style Trump speeches channel and I think I need to do this. This is too funny.
