When I was growing up there was a constant fear running throughout media that through corporatization everyone would become bland in the same boring way. Comments about hating Gap or Pottery Barn on sitcoms, lots of jabs at Christianity for being afraid of tattoos or crazy colored hair.
It’s funny looking back now, because the way sameness is actually achieved is through inclusion. Everything is reduced to the common denominator, and nothing else is allowed.

I don’t think you’d have trouble explaining the internet or tv to someone from say 16th century Scotland. Fascinating. A guy lost his MIT job due to false accusations that have now, years later, been ruled defamation. The woman who lied still has her job at MIT...I mean she'll need it to pay the guy the $6 million she now owes him, but still blatant hypocrisy from MIT.

As a general rule, paying for a PhD in the humanities or social sciences is a reckless decision. Anyone who encourages you to do it is giving you awful advice.
My student loans were taken out based on generous income based repayment plans with monthly payments of around $500.
Now thanks to Trump killing off the SAVE plan for no reason but he hated Biden it will be ballooning to $1400 a month and will end up at 4Xs the loan amounts.
