You're not really responding to the points on offer, here. No one is denying that lots of classics by men exist. But children learning to read and love reading aren't usually reading old books. I'll give my kids old books, and they'll be better for it.

It's interesting how this argument tends to be made: 1. When women were in the minority: "why do you even care if the protagonist looks like you, men don't care" 2. When men are in the minority: "boys are being DiSCouRaGed!", "society hates men!"
