Better than Carrick? Better than Maresca? He won a trophy for Newcastle. Granted that’s a tall order but he’s been pretty shite other than that. With some great players he managed an EFL trophy and a finished in 12th last season when he had all these players he didn’t want to lose. Carrick started on a negative and got 3rd. I like Howe. I actually want him as England manager one day. But let’s not throw around silly comparisons

I'm gutted about Eddie Howe's departure, but more because of what it says about the direction and management of Newcastle. Gordon and Tonali gone, Bruno next, the squad in desperate need of new leaders, and now the manager leaves 3 weeks before the season starts. A shambles.

After four and a half years of incredible service to Newcastle United, we can confirm that Kieran Trippier will leave the club this summer when his contract expires.
Kieran arrived in January 2022 with the club in the relegation zone and played a crucial role as he went on to lift the club’s first domestic trophy in 70 years.

Because I don’t think we are entitled to immediate success, and don’t judge him more harshly because he and the team overachieved in the past.
Howe made plenty of mistakes this year, but there’s so many other factors that have led to it - sometimes you just need a reset and that’s what next season will be
