I spent a week reading through metorial's open-source MCP integrations (1121 of them, @metorial/integrations).
Here's what surprised me about how the best-designed MCP integrations actually work and where most OSS MCPs get it wrong.
If you're building an MCP integration, the difference between "works in the
demo" and "works in production" is boring stuff:
- typed errors
- described schemas
- separated auth flows
- scoped OAuth files
- contract tests, not unit tests
Huge respect to @metorial for open-sourcing all 1121 integrations. Reading that repo is the fastest way to level up on MCP design patterns right now.

Spent the weekend building a workspace consistency audit for a 1,100-integration MCP infrastructure repo. Surfaced 251 OAuth integrations
with inline scopes (architectural drift), 1,119 Zod schemas missing AI-discoverable descriptions, and 584 raw error throws. @MetorialAi
