I believe this is the era of the solo expert, the duo, the tiny team.
Working with one feels like sitting at a sushi counter. You order what you want, or even better, you let the chef surprise you. You see every cut, and nothing gets lost on the way to your plate.
A traditional agency works differently. Your request goes through sales, account managers and layers of management before anyone touches the work. By the time it reaches the person building it, half of what you meant is gone.
With a small team, the people you talk to are the people doing the work. Iteration is fast too, with feedback turned into changes in hours, not weeks. You get better output, shipped faster, with more care, and you spend less.

We recently built the landing page for Bocage Traiteur, a catering studio focused on sustainable cuisine and local producers.

I’m building a place to learn motion, design engineering, and the thinking behind software that feels handcrafted, as AI changes how we build,
Still very early: looking for 10 people to join the first group and share honest feedback

got quite a few DMs asking how I made it so here’s the full walkthrough of how I built this jelly 🪼 segmented control
This looks great for most merchants, but a nightmare for digital studios using modern front-end tooling and shipping only minified code. I’m expecting Sidekick to ship code directly into /assets instead of the source files. The GitHub integration needs to support source files and build tasks, similar to Vercel or other CI services, so Sidekick can actually work within a real codebase, follow its conventions, and leave agencies and studios with code they can maintain and iterate on.
When I built @kotn’s first store 12 years ago, I knew how to code and it still took me two weeks just to get to something OK, years to get to something I liked.
We built the tool I wish I had back then. Here’s Canvas.
Pre-AI project hits different. Still one of my favorite ecomm stores I’ve had the chance to work on

I’ve reached a point where I’m like not excited about new models. There are too many releases, too many people overhype those releases, and it feels like marginal gains.
I feel like the models from the last few months are good enough for my coding needs at least.

Bro mentioned a site builder for weekend hobby projects, a blog engine from 2003 and a CRM, then called it a statement.
Sure, you might not need a CMS for a solo project, where polluting your codebase with content is fine. Content isn't code, but sure, ship it through git review like it's a hotfix. The moment a second person needs to change a headline, you're teaching them what a PR is.
Today the answer is a good headless CMS like @sanity_io, which ships an excellent MCP. Content lives outside the codebase, and Jenny from marketing can edit it by chatting with Claude. Along with the other 50 editors.
Why would anyone use a CMS anymore?
It feels so archaic to open up a Webflow, WordPress, or HubSpot visual editor and click around editing text and uploading images.
I'm doing all of my content management the same way I write the front-end code.
CMS companies are cooked. It's just extra baggage nobody needs anymore.
