I did the brand identity for context(.)dev (YC S26) in 3 days They're backed by YC and they needed the whole thing done fast They didn't want to change their logo, but they wanted a completely new brand around it So here's how the 3 days went Day 1: I did the mood boards. I made 4 different options so they could see a few directions, and they picked the one they liked the most Day 2: I made 3 visual identity concepts based on that mood board. Each one had 8 slides showing how the brand could actually look when it's being used Day 3: Once they picked a concept, day 3 was all about building it out. I extended the brand, made the brand assets and put together the brand guidelines, which ended up being around 34 pages I also made a custom shader for them in those 3 days, which I'm pretty happy I managed to fit in Honestly the project was tough. With a timeline that short you have to turn things around really fast and there's not much room to go back and forth But it was fun and worth it Need a distinct brand identity for your startup? Posting the brand identity that made me go viral on X for the first time
One of my brand identities I designed when I was just starting out Everyone does stamp-style designs now. But at that time, it was a bit unique on X and this was one of my first branding projects to absolutely blow up

More and more founders are creating designs using AI. And they can get the job done 70%-80% For the rest, they hire a designer to polish things up and find details which they would miss otherwise So the market is now rewarding having an eye for design and being able to polish and pick the best designs for a specific business, rather than just braindead execution A lot execution is already done by AI

Companies realise that design is also a moat But it's usually very late lol I personally think if you are serious about your startup, you should invest in good design It's usually a one-time investment you make. Unlike ads you do not have to constantly test things One solid, strategic brand identity can help customers remember you much more rather than testing out bunch of random marketing channels while looking inconsistent
