Miami Beach is facing a major zoning challenge from Florida’s Live Local Act.
I’m hosting a free community Zoom next Sunday at 4 PM to break down what’s being proposed, what state law allows, and what residents can do.

The Florida House of Representatives came shockingly close to flipping last night.
Democrats netted 16 seats. I believe that leaves the GOP with a 70-50 majority.
But there were also another 5 seats where the Republican won 51-49 or less and 5 more where they won 52-48 or less

NEW: A network of super PACs, many with ties to either the Democrats or Republicans, has quietly spent over $16.5 million bankrolling dozens of third-party candidates in pivotal House and Senate races, an @axios analysis found.
These PACs have spent an average of $375k more than the candidates they are supporting, many of whom haven't even filed financial paperwork w/ the FEC.
We found 43 minor-party congressional candidates receiving outside support from super PACs, most with exponentially more funds than the candidates' own meager operations.
The clear goal: To siphon votes from the other side.
For Dem-aligned groups, that means boosting Libertarian, Constitution and America First Party candidates by touting them as the true conservatives in the race.
For GOP-aligned groups, it's Green and Legal Marijuana Now Party candidates, as well as independents on party lines like Stop Israel's Genocide and Working People Party.
The $ could make an enormous difference in key races that will determine the balance of power in Congress.
More about these groups, the candidates they're backing, the tactics they're using and their ties to the two major parties: axios.com/2026/11/01/2026-mi…

Republican leaders in the Florida Senate just reported their general election donors. Below are all the $100K+ contributions.
Some notables:
- Kalshi ($750K)
- Duke Energy ($500K)
- Florida Crystals ($250K)
- US Sugar ($250K)
- Anthropic ($100K)
- Mosaic ($100K)
Good take from @GWKruse . Those of us who have been advocating in Tallahassee for preservation and environmental stewardship know how painful the last few years have been, and how we must bring back a balance before our state is sold for good to developers and data centers.
I’ve been pleading with voters in Florida, regardless of party, to consider the checks and balances @davidjollyfl would provide to our future growth management.
The residents coming in front of our board asking us to help fight Live Local projects, agricultural enclave designations, data center developments, and SB180 preemptions have concerns that are truly nonpartisan.
Don’t allow blind party loyalty to steer you into voting against your best interests and your community’s future quality of life.
Excellent news - 495+ families sleeping a bit easier tonight. But the work is not over. The fight to stop Live Local must continue. You know that they will come back next year for 'amendments.' Stay hopeful, stay vigilant.

EDITORIAL: DeSantis-appointed Attorney General James Uthmeier and Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia have each proven themselves unworthy of your vote. sun-sentinel.com/2026/10/29/…

The co-developer of a proposed AI data center in Palm Beach County – known by the codename "Project Tango" – just gave $25,000 to James Uthmeier, the Republican candidate for Attorney General of Florida.
Uthmeier faces Democrat José Javier Rodriguez in the attorney general race.

New story and 🧵:
Earlier this month, just a few days before early voting began, Ken Griffin, a hedge fund executive worth an estimated $57 billion, sent seven-figure donations to a pair of Florida politicians who seem to be stuck in surprisingly competitive elections...
Oh yeh but let's force even more development here with state preemptions.. that's a sure way to address flooding...! :(
What's going to take for the state, city, & county to stop pointing fingers and fix NE 15th street.
This is king tide flooding.
The problem is compounded by 60 years of the massively heavy Omni complex settling. You can see it in the south/north slope the Street.

Ken Griffin has turned Miami into an unaffordable red pill riviera nightmare. We can’t afford to let him do the same to the entire state. Vote for @davidjollyfl

I'll be hitting a couple radio stations tomorrow to discuss Sen. Moody's press avoidance, which is a big story this campaign cycle that I hear complaints about more from Republicans than Democrats.

That is literally her in Tallahassee - stonewalled - when anybody tried to amend her Live Local bill to not destroy their own local community. We need a Senator who can answer residents — not just her developer buddies.
We don't have a resource problem in Florida. We have a priorities problem.
The fix? Ending the political corruption.
