If you’re starting with Stephen E. Ambrose, it helps to begin with a clear path rather than everything at once.
We’ve outlined five strong entry points:
D-Day
Citizen Soldiers
Eisenhower
The Wild Blue
Crazy Horse and Custer
Each offers a different perspective on leadership, war, and the lived experience of those who fought.
The full context and why these matter is in the latest post.

Military institutions talk constantly about future war. Much less often do they ask what kinds of judgment future war will actually demand.
That is what made this roundup interesting to me. One piece argues fiction belongs in professional military education because war is a human and moral problem, not just a technical one. The others push on space, AI, and defense innovation from very different angles.
If war is getting more technologically complex without becoming less human, what are we underinvesting in right now?

The events in the levant since October 7, 2023, are redefining the status quo tension between Israel, Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran. Israel has now shifted from operations in Gaza to the north and a focus on Hezbollah.
Right now, news platforms are reporting that the Israeli military has announced “a limited ground operation” in southern Lebanon targeting Hezbollah has begun. The next question is, “What does limited mean?”
