Dr. Ajambo Mariam, National Coordinator for Sickle Cell Disease at @MinofHealthUG , highlighted efforts to expand SCD awareness, screening and treatment.
Through the Inter-University Health Ministers Consortium, universities receive test kits to support community awareness and screening campaigns. The Ministry is also expanding outreach to secondary schools to promote early testing and diagnosis.
She emphasised the importance of the ongoing solutions which include the locally manufacturing SCD rapid test kits and hydroxyurea by @qcil_uganda2.
“Our ultimate goal is to reduce the number of SCD cases in Uganda and mitigate the suffering that is within our control,” she said.
Dr. Ajambo welcomed the #Hope4WarriorsMedicalCamp2026 by Raremark as the first of its kind in Uganda.

She emphasised the importance of knowing your genotype, especially when choosing a partner.

Dr Bangirana Alex, Head of the #Hope4WarriorsMedicalCamp2026, described the camp as successful, with no major adverse events reported, and expressed hope that it becomes an annual initiative.
He highlighted the financial barriers many Warriors with AVN face:
“For this replacement, you are required to pay at least a minimum of UGX 25 million in Uganda, but at @MulagoReferral, it costs about UGX 10 million, which most Warriors in Uganda still cannot afford.”
He hopes the camp runs every year, noting that its continuation depends on donations:
“The camp can only happen if people donate to the people responsible for organising the camp.”
He thanked @VictorB75 of Hips for Africa for securing the hip implants, as well as Raremark Foundation and other partners who made the camp possible.

The 2026 Uganda Programmes Communications Community of Practice was a reminder of something we see increasingly in our work at Digimark: strategic communications must look beyond outputs to strengthening ecosystems within which participants operate.
As the strategic communications partner supporting the @MastercardFdn in Uganda, we have had the opportunity to work alongside communicators across programmes and partner organisations, each with different experiences, audiences and stories, but often navigating similar communications challenges.
As we reflect on this year’s convening, one thing stands out: a strong Community of Practice doesn’t only create better communicators. It creates a network of people who continue to learn from one another, challenge one another and strengthen the practice of development communication together.

In digital marketing, there’s a dance happening every day.
Algorithms push speed, trends & vanity metrics.
Culture values authenticity, relevance & community especially because the strongest brands don’t pick sides, they blend both.
A Ugandan food brand can share a recipe rooted in local flavors (culture) but ride on trending sounds for visibility (algorithm).
A musician can use a viral TikTok beat (algorithm) while showcasing their Luganda lyrics & heritage (culture).
This balance is where lasting impact lives.
Don’t just chase reach. Build resonance. That’s how you move from visibility to legacy.

Case Study: Insight-Driven Storytelling with Marie Stopes Uganda.
In healthcare marketing, impact is more than just reach; it’s about communicating the customer experience and building trust.
When we partnered with Marie Stopes Uganda, the goal was clear: spark trust, drive awareness, and move people from online curiosity to real-world action.
Here’s what happened after our campaign:
Over 16,000+ WhatsApp queries in December alone from people seeking information on services.
Referrals to hospitals and centres jumped, with more than 540 maternity-related queries and 840 family planning contacts in a single month.
Engagement across social media grew, with Facebook posts reaching 700,000+ people by Nov-Dec.
But beyond the numbers, the stories stood out. A viewer commented, “Amazing antenatal work,” a small reminder that trust is built one authentic story at a time.
The takeaway? When you combine strong visuals, human-centered messaging, and clear calls to action, you don’t just create content, you create connections that lead to healthier choices and stronger communities.
