“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?”
Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century.

"Asked about her reputation as a radical, Weaver interjected: 'Other people think I’m kind of a sellout.' Asked whether she’s moderated over the course of her career, she laughed."
Great story by @janakichadha on @ceaweaver, housing adviser to @NYCMayor:

President Trump’s move to ban CNN, MS NOW and POLITICO from the White House caught much of his own team by surprise.
@playbookdc called more than a dozen current and former Trump WH officials to figure out why this happened and why now.
Here’s what we learned 🧵

NEW — Statement from Politico on White House press ban:
"POLITICO will continue to fairly report on this White House and future ones. We will vigorously defend our First Amendment rights against any attempt to restrict them.
The claims that POLITICO received government subsidies are false and have been thoroughly debunked."

Where in America can new homes get permitted and built fastest? And are we getting faster or slower over time?
In a new paper with @leonardo_damico and Audrey Wang, we show cities like Raleigh typically *finish* construction before cities like San Francisco even approve it.

Interesting piece by @e_casalicchio and @dillonliam on how Labour is looking at California — which is letting people build homes in their back yard (literally!) — as a way of solving the housing crisis

There’s a strong “We’re all trying to find the guy who did this” element to large US tech companies discovering that the modern information environment is chaotic, low trust, driven by whim, does not reward truth-finding, is not self-correcting, given to faddish obsessions, etc

“Polling has a credibility problem. Ours is the fix: no partisan clients, no campaign or party money, numbers that go wherever the data takes them even when it’s inconvenient. Trustworthy polling, rebuilt”
Welp.
NEW: I reached out repeatedly last week to Median Strategies, asking to speak with their head of polling.
After reaching out repeatedly, they told me they were discontinuing their polling operation, then they admitted their poll was fake.

Fascinating story from @AnnaLissRoy on how lawmakers are increasingly relying on Claude, Grok, ChatGPT and other AI tools to shape legislation and inform their thinking.

The town's worst-kept secret: Many people know that Paramount CEO David Ellison has been quietly working on a bipartisan bill to create a federal film tax incentive program. Coincidentally, while Rob Bonta was delivering his press conference today, Ellison was en route to D.C. with chief legal officer Makan Delrahim for a long-planned dinner with 13 members of the House Ways and Means Committee to discuss advancing the legislation. The dinner, I am told, is being hosted by committee chair Jason Smith as I type this.

NEW: There was NOT a batch of L.A. mayor votes with zero votes for Pratt.
But there was a "lag in an automated update" to @AP vote tallies that split the batch and updated Bass & Raman's votes about a minute before updating Pratt's.
