hilarious to watch how Opus 5.5 designs a 3d asset, prints it, and controls a robo arm to take it out of the printer
馃嚨馃嚤 Poland has been getting a lot of positive attention on X lately, from big voices like @levelsio, which is great
As an immigrant who has lived in Warsaw for the last 10 years, I want to give a more complete take
First of all, most of the positive things people say are true. Warsaw is a modern, safe city with genuinely great value for the price. It鈥檚 also probably the cleanest European capital I鈥檝e been to
But there鈥檚 more to it
The immigration situation is hard. People hear about the positive sides, but after studying and working here continuously for 10 years, I鈥檓 still waiting for my EU long-term residence card, which is one level below citizenship (and citizenship takes another 3 years once you get the card!!)
While living here I鈥檝e had to get 5 temporary residence cards, with a wait of 0.5 to 2 years for each. At this point I joke that I鈥檓 collecting them like Pokemon cards. It鈥檚 not uncommon for people to be stuck in the country for a year, because their previous card has expired and they can鈥檛 travel until the new one arrives
Sometimes the immigration office asks for extra documents, which extends the wait by another half a year. (Often it鈥檚 because they lost some of the docs you already submitted, so you just bring the same thing again. For real)
This story is consistent across my friends, it鈥檚 not unique to me. Some of them even got rejected without a clear explanation, despite being highly paid skilled workers, and some ended up relocating FROM Poland because of it
A lot of people who consider building a life here underestimate how hard it is to integrate on the legal level
Another important point is the weather. To be clear, this isn鈥檛 unique to Warsaw or Poland, but it鈥檚 worth keeping in mind
Winters are harsh, but not in the snowy fairy-tale sense. There鈥檚 almost no snow, it鈥檚 rainy, the temperature hovers around 0掳C, and there鈥檚 very little sunlight (~3x fewer sunny days than SF). My solution was simply escaping to other countries for the winter, but that鈥檚 not for everyone
The warmer half of the year is beautiful though: very green, not too hot, a proper autumn, and there is a gorgeous wild bank of the Vistula right in the middle of the city
To end on a good note, I genuinely think the place gets better every year: more lively, more infrastructure, more things to do. You don鈥檛 experience this kind of continuous growth in many places. I hope the immigration system improves before it鈥檚 too late

i don鈥檛 think text is the right medium for this kind of handoff in general. but even putting that aside, i foresee a set of standards, or best practices of some sort, on how to prompt policies, especially as more of them become available through APIs
Astra-like models can one-shot the shape sorting task here because of their superior spatio-semantic scene understanding
it's hard to compress trillions of parameters of knowledge by three orders of magnitude and maintain this level of understanding
from my early testing, Dream-1 is quite capable at classical pick and place, but on less common tasks (like shape sorting here) it struggles to execute
shape sorting requires finer precision and better semantic scene understanding (this is especially important here 馃У)

Ahead of launch, @robocurve evaluated Dream-1 independently. Result: a new Pareto frontier for robot control. 16x cheaper, 1.7x faster, and better performance (59 vs. 48 on RoboDojo-RC Tier 1) than the previous best alternative.
LLMs can plan. Robots still need a cheap, fast, and general System 1 to act.

curious if @dreamlabs_ai has or is working on such a set of best practices for prompting Dream-1
most of the movies i watch are mid 20 century classics, some people find them boring ("oh no it's black and white!!!") but i honestly find them more unique nowadays
also, history is the best filter
you must start consuming art that messes with your head...
this is no longer a nice-to-have
if you're using AI 2+ hours daily and your inputs are:
> Netflix algorithm picks
> bookstore bestsellers
> whatever's trending
your outputs will look like everyone else's
THIS is what you need:
- old movies, pure cinema, classics
- actual books about stories, not self improvement
- art that moves your guts
because AI outputs are only as interesting as the ideas you bring to the conversation
and those ideas come from consuming things that create chemical reactions you can't get from scrolling
that fuel is the one thing AI can't generate for itself
so you must develop an appetite for it

I鈥檒l be at Encord鈥檚 Long Horizon summit tomorrow at Fort Mason, SF.
At AnyAct, we鈥檙e scoping packing at IT refurbishment sites. I鈥檇 like to connect with people going, especially those working on robot manipulation and deployment.
If you鈥檒l be there, reply or DM me.

Portal jumping through gaussian splat worlds with WebGPU. real time. sound on.
crazy that you can actually try this right now

Sol 6.1 is the best ROI for agentic robotics as of today
Sonnet 5.5 shows emerging capabilities, but it's significantly more expensive due to higher token consumption
