ICE has detained this mentally ill US citizen in the Miami Detention Center in Indiana (an immigration prison) b/c he's deluded himself into believing he's the son of a Jamaican Prime Minister, even tho he has a Florida birth certificate. ICE really wants to deport him.

EXCLUSIVE: Trump DOJ’s has repeatedly insisted it will not tell immigration judges how to rule, as required by law. But after a demand from unidentified “higher-ups,” a veteran judge was ordered to reverse four rulings—then yanked from court mid-hearing. wapo.st/4BuABEM

Read @immcouncil’s statement about today’s terrible 5th Circuit decision.
"This ruling allows the govt to lock people up when detention plainly serves no purpose, and without any way to challenge it,” said Rebecca Cassler, senior litigation attorney at American Immigration Council, who argued the case before the Fifth Circuit. americanimmigrationcouncil.o…

Mr. Nilaj was ordered removed in 2008, but for whatever reasons, ICE chose to let him stay. 18 years later, after years of dutifully following his release conditions, he was unceremoniously arrested at a check-in — and now his food pantry is shuttered. Is America greater now?
ICE just locked up the man who feeds 8,000 Bronx neighbors a month, at his own immigration hearing. Now his food pantry is shut.🤬 Aleksander Nilaj, an Albanian immigrant who founded the Open Hand food pantry in the Bronx in 2012, showed up for his immigration hearing at 26 Federal Plaza in Manhattan. ICE agents detained him instead. He is now held at Delaney Hall, a detention center in Newark, New Jersey. bit.ly/4i8Uqse

FINALLY! A detailed picture of deportations under Trump. DHS stopped publishing enforcement data in Jan 2025. Now @migrationpolicy has a new report—the first from Marc Rosenblum since he left his job leading DHS’s statistics office. This is the best picture of data we have yet:

This man: - Lost his green card at 21 because of a single drug possession conviction. - Won protection against removal to Iran. - Checked in with ICE for 23 years. - Married a US citizen in 2016 - Was arrested at his home by ICE in 2025 so they could send him to a third country
JUST IN: Significant decision from the 10th Circuit: the 6 month "reasonable" period of detention for ICE detainees with final orders of removal does *not* reset over time. The Trump admin had argued the 6 months reset everytime ICE redetained someone. ca10.uscourts.gov/sites/ca10…

Unbelievable. The Trump administration wants to expedite the appeal of our Medani v Trump victory so they can revoke the ISSUED immigrant visas before they expire.
