We just marked 25 years since al-Qaeda murdered nearly 3,000 Americans. So yes, it is grotesque to hear Hasan Piker claim that America is worse than al-Qaeda “pound for pound.” But this is bigger than the cancer that is @hasanthehun. Piker represents a fringe movement that sees America as invariably evil - so much so that al-Qaeda becomes a basis for moral equivalence. All the while trafficking in Jew hatred, repackaging old bigotries for his digital following. Politicians who court his audience and campaign with him, then dismiss him as merely a “Twitch streamer from California,” should stop pretending they don’t understand what he represents, the history he rewrites, the misinformation he spreads or the Jew hatred he spews. They do.
