Hi Francesca. I'm Israeli. Can I vote in Jordan's elections since they occupy half of the British Mandate of Palestine? Lmk.
Israel allows 2 million Palestinians with Israeli citizenship (who did not become refugees in 1948) to vote and run for office while it denies that right to 6+ million it has kept under a brutal illegal occupation for nearly 60 years. That is not democracy. It is Apartheid.

"Qatar provides a foundation for a better future," says Sir Mark Thompson, CNN's Chairman and CEO. Groveling like this doesn't come cheap. How much is Doha is paying the network?
SCOOP: CNN International is hosting a major summit in Doha later this month in partnership with the government-run Media City Qatar. But it appears CNN quietly revised its agenda, removing some rather sycophantic descriptions of Qatar. The original program included a session titled "State of Influence," which explicitly discussed Qatar's expanding diplomatic role, asking how the country could position itself at the center of global affairs. Another session, "The Gulf: What Comes Next?", proclaimed: "Qatar has built something rare — a small country with an outsized role in how the world works." It went on to praise Qatar's achievements in diplomacy, energy, culture, and sport, describing the country as having consistently punched above its weight. Those descriptions have since disappeared from the live agenda, but traces remain in Bing's search index. Screenshots below. A few questions for @cnnipr: Why were these sessions renamed or removed? Who wrote the original descriptions? And did CNN's Qatari government-backed partner have any role in developing or revising the agenda?

I’ve had this weight on me for a while and felt the need to share it once and for all. Years ago, the CEO and co-founder of Semafor, a media publication, approached me. He presumably wanted me to consider investing, because he spent a significant amount of time boasting about all of his supplemental sources of revenue. I was stunned when he bragged about getting an enormous amount of money from the government of Qatar. The pretense was that he was receiving these funds to “train journalists.” I don’t recall the precise amounts, but recall that he acknowledged that the cost to conduct this “training” was a tiny fraction of what he was getting paid - directionally it was something like getting paid $2mm to conduct a “media training” boot camp that would cost Semafor $50,000 to execute. I pointed out that it sounded like he was being bribed - that nobody with proper intentions would offer to pay something that was 20-100X off market - and no entity pretending to be a journalism outfit should accept stuff like that, as it would compromise him. He insisted that wouldn’t happen. But over the course of many years, I’ve observed how Semafor continues to receive government sponsorships and perform all sorts of “trainings” and “conferences” in partnership with Qatar, while providing very complementary coverage to the government of Qatar. This is downright unethical - and particularly unbecoming of an outfit pretending to be “training journalists”! The problem doesn’t end with Semafor. The government of Qatar has been buying off media, education and other groups, with reports of how it deployed billions of dollars in the US higher education system. All of us who care about ethics should demand an investigation into these practices. Regardless of whether legal authorities choose to look into this, we as the people and the consumers should admonish such egregious behavior and ensure we avoid “media” publications that are so compromised. Countless journalists risk their lives every day to expose abuses in power. Semafor does a disservice to the profession by undermining trust. @buildersmideast @BuildersMvt

I'm pleased to report that the @nytimes corrected the article and published an editor's note as a result of our outreach.

"Vote how I tell you to vote, Jew, or else!"
Lovett: I just want to be very clear: Jews in Michigan have a moral obligation to support Abdul. They should do it to protect themselves from antisemitism and rising hatred in America.

These comments are clueless. 12 out of the 19 seats that are going to Arab parties according to the latest count belong to a party that refuses to be part of any Israeli government. And the remaining 7 seats aren't enough for the opposition to reach a majority.
All the proud declarations that Israel’s democracy gives 2 million Arab citizens the vote will ring increasingly hollow if the opposition refuses to govern with their support — even if that means leaving Netanyahu in power.

The @nytimes published yet another fake quote from an Israeli leader. This is far from the first time. It won't be the last either, unless the paper starts taking its own credibility seriously.
UPDATE: Following communication from CAMERA, the @nytimes corrected its fabricated Netanyahu quote, which falsely claimed he spoke of a "civilizational alliance against Islam." The Times called it an editing error—but there is an entire industry of fake quotes attributed to Israelis, and this isn't the first time they've taken part. We commend the correction. Now it's time to correct the pattern.

Netanyahu, Bennett and Eisenkot are all security hawks and economic pragmatists. Together, they could form a strong government without the ultra-Orthodox, extremists, Islamists or anti-Zionists. Israel is fighting wars on multiple fronts. Put your egos aside. Put the country first. Why is this so hard?!

The BBC appear to be trying to justify obsessive coverage of an election in a tiny country 3000 miles away with “but the Jews run the world innit”
Is @bbclysedoucet really saying our cost of living is affected by Israel? Peoples’ suffering always seem to come down to the Jews. Bizarre but standard for Al Beeb.

One of the Cuban regime’s “diplomats” tried to intimidate UN staff into cutting our microphones as I exposed the regime for the world to see. When one of my American diplomats noticed what was happening, that same regime “diplomat” tried to intimidate him, too.

If you've spent any significant amount of time in the @UN, you've almost certainly seen for yourself how much the Cubans rely on intimidation and disruption to silence criticism.
NEW: @USAmbUN Mike Waltz just got into a shouting match on the floor of the general assembly with Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla "He's not going to intimidate me in the United States of America, like he tries to intimidate political prisoners," Waltz said, raising his voice "Back up!"

The UN's Francesca Albanese now wants journalists tried at the ICC for "incitement of genocide" or some bullshit. Glenn Greenwald wants Free Press journalists tried for "denying the famine in Gaza." And Ryan Grim wants me tried for aiding the "murder of Palestinian journalists"

CAMERA calls on @nytimes to substantiate their quote claiming Netanyahu called for an "alliance against Islam"—or to issue an immediate correction. A serious paper doesn't make up quotes. But unfortunately, misquoting and misrepresenting information is the norm at The Times.

The UN harbors a moral fugitive who spews hatred for America, the West, Jews, and Israel. Francesca Albanese is institutional poison, doing grave damage to the UN, and tarnishing the work of brave UN personnel who risk their lives to feed the starving and keep the peace.   I know it. You know it. All that remains is to do something about it. Start by saying publicly what you say privately: Albanese must go. @AmbUNReform

If intellectual dishonesty had a face...
You sound like a Holocaust denier… “Show me evidence that Jews were gassed” “Here is a picture of the chambers” “No, show me someone being gassed” “Here’s a video of Jews being taken there” “No one is being gassed” “Here’s bodies burnt outside” “You got nothing”

Looking forward to all the screeching about Viktor Orbán being corrupt and friendly with dictators, as if those have not been the defining features of the @UN for decades.
New: Sources from three countries confirm that the Trump Administration has advocated Viktor Orbán for UN Secretary-General. The US has encouraged Orbán to enter the race, even bringing him the initial idea of a joint U.S.-Russia-China candidacy. WSJ: wsj.com/opinion/viktor-orban…

Alonso's whole schtick is systematically ignoring the actual words people use and replacing them with materially different ones that better fit his predetermined narrative. Here, for example, this weasel tries to pretend that "the killing of children" in war - the phrasing Sidoti actually used as purported "evidence of genocidal purpose" - is somehow the same thing as "targeting children". As if the distinction between the two weren't precisely "the difference that makes all the difference".
ffs… he *is* applying the only reasonable inference test… this is what Britain, France, Denmark, Germany, Canada and the Netherlands said on targeting children and ORI intent. This is why they are terrified of the Myanmar case. They already said this… can’t take it back
