Surprise. Surprise that Whiskey Pete doesn’t like hearing his plan to resume the Iran War that he lost isn’t likely to turn out any differently this time around.
The Atlantic is reporting that Army Lt.Gen. Brett Sylvia, the director for strategy, plans and policy for the Joint Staff, known as the J5, was fired this week. No reason has been given publicly, however his biography has been removed from the public website for the J5.
A Joint Staff spokesperson thanked him for 32 years of service. Unnamed defense officials told the Atlantic Secretary of War Pete Hegseth lost confidence in him and that he did not get along with Under Secretary Elbridge Colby. He is the second J5 director pushed out in the past year, per the Atlantic.
The J5 is the Joint Staff’s strategy and plans directorate. In general it helps turn presidential and civilian guidance into military plans and links the combatant commands, the Pentagon’s civilian leadership and the White House.

Nothing says "the media manufactured the Russia hoax" than going on a hunting trip with one Russian oligarch right after another Russian oligarch had paid for your wedding.

Buttigieg: When I was in Washington working on infrastructure, I could always count on Cindy Hyde-Smith to take credit for projects that she voted against.
She voted no on the infrastructure law that brought Gulf Coast Rail back to this region, that brought road money back to this region, that improved the ports in this region.
There was a U.S. senator from Mississippi who voted for the infrastructure bill, but it wasn't her.

Deservedly scathing op-ed by the NYT:
“If Democrats retake both houses of Congress, and more state governments than they now control, it will tell the world that Mr. Trump does not represent most Americans. It will demonstrate that a country that starts to slide toward autocracy can move back to normalcy, as happened in Hungary this spring. Most important, it will create a desperately needed check on Mr. Trump during his final two years in office.
…
In a 21-month span, he has done more harm to democracy and the rule of law than any other president in the modern era and perhaps longer than that. He has broken his oath to defend the Constitution by trying to rewrite it on his own. He has refused to honor Congress’s power of the purse and misused national security laws for political ends. He has defied federal court orders on Medicaid funding, deportation orders and more. He has dismantled the Justice Department’s legacy as an impartial enforcer of federal law, turning it into an instrument of retribution against his adversaries while canceling investigations into his allies. He has appointed inept sycophants to oversee crucial government functions, including law enforcement, national defense and public health. He has sought to disenfranchise large numbers of voters, claiming fraud that cannot be found, and championed an extreme new approach to partisan gerrymandering. He has physically besmirched the White House by demolishing the East Wing and financing a garish renovation with donations from wealthy allies.”

The underlying financial incentives driving Trump’s alliance with Russia are some of the clearest evidence yet of this Administration’s widespread corruption.
🇺🇦 🇺🇲 The confrontation inside Trump's Ukraine peace negotiations is now coming into focus.
Le Monde reports that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner spent nearly three hours pitching Ukraine's presidential chief of staff, Kyrylo Budanov, a postwar economic arrangement built around restoring Russian oil and gas flows to Europe through Ukrainian pipelines.
The meeting took place on October 9 at the Shell Bay golf club in Florida.
Witkoff presented the proposal as a regional prosperity plan: Ukraine would collect transit revenues, Europe would receive cheaper energy, and Russia would regain access to commercial routes disrupted by the war.
Budanov saw something fundamentally different. According to a witness cited by Le Monde, he objected that the arrangement would recreate Ukraine's dependence on Moscow.
“Our model is not Belarus, but Poland!” he reportedly replied.
The meeting was interrupted, and Budanov called Zelensky.
When talks resumed, news arrived that Trump had announced a separate agreement with Putin involving Russian diesel. Le Monde reports that an irritated Witkoff then demanded that the Ukrainians accept the arrangement and stop striking Russian oil refineries, arguing that the attacks endangered the wider world.
A source familiar with the Ukrainian delegation described its members as exceptionally distressed by the encounter.
The account adds a revealing dimension to the commercial negotiations we have been tracking. The proposed Lukoil asset sale, Novatek's involvement in an Alaska LNG venture, the broader US-Russia list of business opportunities reported by the Financial Times, and now the proposed restoration of Russian energy transit through Ukraine all point to the prominence of energy deals in Washington's diplomatic approach.
These are separate proposals, with different participants and legal circumstances. But Le Monde's reporting exposes the strategic disagreement underlying them.
For Witkoff, restoring commercial flows appears to be part of the mechanism for producing a peace settlement. For Budanov, according to the account, those same flows threaten to restore Moscow's economic leverage over Ukraine.
The reported exchange also raises a question about sequencing: why was Kyiv being pressed to stop attacking Russian refineries while Russia continued striking Ukrainian energy infrastructure?
Le Monde's reconstruction relies on accounts of a private meeting. The reported exchanges have not been independently confirmed by the participants.

The BS can originate from either parties supporters. Audi has in fact confirmed their intention to build an auto plant. audi.com/en/press-releases/a…
Trump swaggered into Georgia right before the midterms, breathlessly announcing a huge new Audi factory, a massive win for the state he claimed. Here's the receipt: Audi had absolutely no such announcement, no plans to build a plant in Georgia, and no knowledge of this supposed commitment. This wasn't just campaign exaggeration; it was a bald-faced fabrication, invented out of thin air just days before an election, banking on voters not checking if a major international corporation actually agreed to a multi-billion dollar investment during a political rally. It perfectly illustrates how quickly reality gets benched for a headline grab, promising prosperity that only exists in a speech bubble, all while the people who supposedly value "truth" never question the actual facts. thehill.com/homenews/state-w…
Apparently Trump’s family and inner circle of billionaires have profited tremendously from doing business with Russia. Explains so much about their lacking human decency in abandoning Ukraine. The GOP Communist traitors in sheep’s clothing.
“Russia invaded Ukraine, committed atrocities in the territories it occupied, and when it failed to force the government to fall or achieve its aims on the battlefield, began targeting civilians, seeking to terrorize the population into accepting Russian domination. The first Trump Administration shook off the Obama Administration’s reticence to assist and admirably sent both weapons and military trainers to help Ukraine. After the full-scale invasion in 2022, the Biden Administration orchestrated a herculean international effort to assist Ukraine, which the Trump Administration has abandoned.”-@KoriSchake @AEI aei.org/foreign-and-defense-…

The irony of the statement below is that Vivek has succeeded in underscoring his OWN flaws--by running a dispicable ad, well beyond the bounds of even today's tawdry standards.
