I almost missed the Brian Krebs stuff against Rufus because he's left twitter a long time ago. He's made important journalistic contributions, but this whole thing paints him like someone who has no business talking about malware analysis; being blunt, he looks retarded
When all you have as evidence something is malware are windows defender alerts (which you might have grossly misinterpreted) and a verdict from a sandbox, you don't have enough data to affirm maliciousness, nevermind to suggest a "supply chain compromise".
