‼️ Diversifying Your Income ‼️ How do YOU diversify your income? Do you rely on subathons and find yourself struggling to get by between events? Do you monetize other social platforms, or take on sponsorships and brand partnerships? Do you plan strategic merch drops with items your community actually wants? It’s hard to diversify your income, but I think the end goal should be to rely on monetized content, sponsorships, and merchandise sales more than subscriptions. Subathons can be successful events with big incentives, but when they’re your ONLY source of income it creates a heavy financial burden on your community. You may see success with a subathon and feel the urge to host another one right away, but in doing so you give your community no time to recover and the novelty of it all fades away. Merchandise drops on the other hand create a bigger incentive. A physical reward that also supports their oshi? It’s win-win! But even merchandise drops can be done wrong if you don’t time them right or research your target audiences interests. If your limited merch drops are too close together, a large percentage of your community won’t be available to purchase. That’s a loss to both you and them. Sponsorships can be difficult to find and YouTube’s new monetization process is daunting, but they’ll both greatly aid in filling the gap between subathons, merchandise drops, and other financial opportunities! Diversifying your income happens gradually, but it’s important to be mindful of how much and how often you depend on your community to bridge the gap.
