AI agents now do what a solo creator couldn't a year ago
Explore a niche for what's working this week, draft in your voice, learn from what actually lands
The tooling caught up...
I've been leaning on agents heavily for the last 3 months and something feels off
my own idea generation has gotten noticeably weaker
like a muscle I've trained for a lifetime that I just stopped using
running an experiment this week
before I prompt, I have to come up with 3 ideas on my own
then I let the agent expand or push back on them
it's slower but the final output is better
probably because I actually start with POV instead of reacting to whatever the model says
the panic right now is 2010 all over again
financial crisis hit, law firm hiring collapsed, every think piece for two years was "law school is a scam"
five years later it was fine again
tech cycles tend to be even shorter than that
just keep building
communities get smaller accounts 3x more engagement than the main feed
really sucks they're gone in May
Today we're announcing two product changes for organizing communities on X:
1. XChat now supports joinable links for groupchats. Create a public link & share direct to Timeline. With support for 350 members per chat (and growing), Groupchat Links are the fastest way to bring people together on X.
2. Due to declining usage, we're deprecating X Communities on May 6.
To migrate your Community's members, pin your groupchat link so people can join it over the next 2 weeks.
This is part of our broader effort to simplify the experience on X. Make no mistake: we are investing heavily in niche communities with the launch of Custom Timelines—and much more to come.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Communities' purpose is different from chat. Communities works asynchronously, meaning members can browse posts and choose which ones to engage with.

Google open-sourced DESIGN.md yesterday
A spec for passing design intent between agents and tools
Tokens, components, accessibility rules, all in one file.
One piece of the public agent ecosystem now has a shared format
How many more pieces need their own spec before we can build with agents end-to-end?
Data schemas, API contracts, permissions, memory, eval
Probably others I'm not thinking of
Anyone working on the rest?
Today, we’re open-sourcing the draft specification for DESIGN.md, so it can be used across any tool or platform. We’re also adding new capabilities.
DESIGN.md lets you easily export and import your design rules from project to project. Instead of guessing intent, agents know exactly what a color is for and can even validate their choices against WCAG accessibility rules.

Will online subscriptions even be a thing in the near future?
Exclusive: Microsoft is tightening rate limits on GitHub Copilot, removing Opus from $10-a-month subscriptions, and plans to move users to token/API-based billing later in 2026 in a sign that it's looking for way to cut costs for its AI services.

ALT Exclusive: Microsoft To Shift GitHub Copilot Users To Token-Based Billing, Tighten Rate Limits Edward Zitron Apr 20, 2026 4 min read Executive Summary: Internal documents reveal that Microsoft plans to temporarily suspend individual account signups to its GitHub Copilot coding product, as it transitions from requests (single interactions with Copilot) towards token-based billing. The documents reveal that the weekly cost of running Github Copilot has doubled since the start of the year. Microsoft also intends to tighten the rate limits on its individual and business accounts, and to remove access to certain models for those with the cheapest subscriptions.
Spec is done. One page
3 features made the cut:
- niche research (what's resonating now)
- drafter that sounds like me
- reply triage
Target: 80% of drafts out the door with only light edits
Timeline: Week 8
Cut from V1: auto-posting, LinkedIn, the learning loop
All V2 material
Wrote the V1 spec for the tool last night

Commit in public, hit send, and...
Silence
You have to sit with it
Going to post the real numbers every week
Not just the highlight reel
It's just the starting line
Forgot to mention in the thread the reason I'm doing this in public instead of in private:
I need the pressure to make myself post consistently
90 days of whenever I feel like it won't produce anything
