There’s never been a better time to be a Polymath. If there's anything that 2026 has taught me, it's to reconsider the value of specializing in a single field.

That nostalgic feeling of aligning the left side of your cursor to check whether or not the progress bar is actually moving.
I just realized that if you grew up in the 90s you can and likely enjoy looking at a progress bar...

@dreamsofcode_io is one of the few coding youtube channels whose new videos get me excited they're always very well edited and show how cool programming is (and used to be in some nostalgic sense)

What a fantastic trailer. Reminds me of All Quiet on the Western Front.

I believe this makes my entire catalog safe for consumption.
I'm a simple man. If a YouTube video cover has a stunned face on it, I don't watch the video.

No True Scotsman. This is a logical fallacy, btw.
If you understand your whole codebase, the codebase isn't that important. Real software is larger than what your brain can comprehend.

Looks like I gotta start working on my GPUI video then
Replying to @huacnlee
Hey Jason, we will start working on infra to automatically publish GPUI releases by the end of the month. For now, GPUI will remain in the Zed repo, but we're aiming for more frequent releases as a goal.

This scene is one of my biggest inspirations for recent YouTube videos. David Fincher is one of the few (if not only) directors to have made a coding scene feel genuinely cinematic and entertaining. youtube.com/watch?v=BPazh2kD…

If they ever do, I can finally do my video on it
Hey @zeddotdev team, 315 days since the last GPUI release. 523 commits to crates/gpui. Just take 5 min to publish 0.3.0 today, not tomorrow, not later, please...

FYI - YouTube changed how they tracked views 8 days ago, leading to ~3x higher numbers for many creators. The old metric is now called “engaged views”. That would be the correct number to compare against. support.google.com/youtube/t…
It took the first podcast with Lex over a year to cross a million views. It's taken the second just 5 days. Acceleration is everywhere! Also, we really shouldn't call these "podcasts". At a combined 11 hour 24 minutes, it's more like an audio book! 😂

No this false. We don’t configure using bash. We configure by atomically swapping a symlink or mountpoint. One operation. Implemented in rust these days. You can run a Nixos system without any bash. We even have a profile for that. Bash is only mandatory during build time
all linux distros are just piles of bash scripts except for nixos, which is configured using an advanced lazy functional programming language... ...which evaluates to a pile of bash scripts

The Linux user was right. Dropbox’s moat was incredibly shallow. Every company and their dog was able to build a similar product. (I say this as someone who loved Dropbox whilst at University, literally saved my 25,000 word dissertation when my hard drive crapped out)
