I’ve been waiting a long time for some important news. Anticipated in April, then assured for mid July then 2 weeks ago I was told it would be emailed within the next 14 days. Day 14 is tomorrow. I’m 50:50 on whether it will even arrive, but I really, really, really need it. 🤞

April to mid July was ok, I could put it out my mind. Mid July the anxiety started, each day it didn’t come it got worse. In August I sent a chaser, two weeks later first contact - I thought it had arrived but it was just a note saying within 14 days. I’m crawling up the walls!

Great that Labour are recognising the demand for a 4 day week, but what they're offering here is just compressed hours. A real 4 day week has been shown to reduce stress and burnout and boost productivity. Welcome but Labour could be bolder on this!

“I know of no one else who has spent so much time simply listening, trying to understand what it is like to be #autistic.” Oliver Sacks on #SteveSilberman (foreword to #Neurotribes). Steve’s empathy and allyship gave me more faith in the future. Deepest sympathy to @WardQNormal.

Some autistic people find making phone calls extremely stressful and unpleasant and will avoid them at all costs. Please don’t try and force your communication preferences on others. image: anon

To mark the #DemocraticConvention #DNC2024 #DNC we've had fun adapting @Eddy_Grant's gloriously hopeful international anti-apartheid anthem from 1988. So here's 🎶 "Gimme Hope Kamala" - a parody twist about @KamalaHarris 💙 vs #DonaldTrump 🍊 that pulls no punches.

Lovely day off - a 5 mile mostly off lead walk with Archer while catching up recent episodes @officialnhaynes Stand[ing] uo for the Classics in @BBCSounds. As she spoke about Aesop and the animals in his(?) fables we were watching wildlife on the River Mimram.

Today someone walked up to my assistance dog and started petting her. I asked them politely to stop because she was working… “Working dogs are supposed to say hello to everyone” and when I asked again if he’d please stop… “You have a very bad attitude.”

It escalated. I was sat on a bench, he was in front of me. I’ve not felt that vulnerable in a long time. Lots of people around, so I raised my voice for a “please leave me alone I’m walking away now”. I was shaking, and so relieved it was only his shouts that followed me.
