I really enjoy my visits to Year 3. "Cloud in a bottle" and "Tornado in a bottle" demos always go down well! @AtmosScience @AMOF_Science
Year 3 had a visit from Dr Lindsay Bennet to talk about her job as a Meteorologist. It was very exciting and the children got to carry out some weather experiments! @AtmosSciencem @AMOF_Science @drlbennett

7.H briefly came off the eggs - possibly disturbed by an intruder. Is that a pip in the egg on the left? We would expect hatching to begin any time in the next few days 🐣 🤞🤞🤞 @UoLperegrine @UoL_Sus @PeopleofLeeds #leeds sustainability.leeds.ac.uk/o…

The @AMOF_Science crew completed our new radar installation before the snow arrived - well done team!
The radar is mounted on a shipping container so it can be moved more easily for fieldwork, and the radome cover provides protection from the weather 🌨️

This week our @AMOF_Science team is installing the new @AtmosScience X-band radar at the Chilbolton Atmospheric Observatory.
Our specialised weather radar will help researchers to study clouds and precipitation - and collect evidence on how our weather and climate are changing.

We've had a special delivery at our Chilbolton Observatory this week.
But, what's inside?
We'll reveal all next week, when we unbox this new @AMOF_Science instrument.

Sad news. Peregrine TJS, who was rescued from the nets after fledging from the Parkie Tower this summer has been found dead in Boroughbridge. First year survival rates are low so discoveries like this have to be expected. But 🥹. @UoLperegrine @UoL_Sus

True north, magnetic north and grid north will combine at a single point - starting at Langton Matravers, a village just west of Swanage #3Norths

Osprey at @SwillyIngsBG @RSPBAireValley over Astley Lake this morning. Not my best work and had to use my old phone but great to watch this bird fishing (and getting some very gentle flak off the Lapwings) vimeo.com/763490672 #phonescoping #osprey

This is the saddest tweet. It’s only October. Thank you Andy for everything you do. I hope we don’t lose our patients due to hypothermia this winter. Civilised society?

A team of @AtmosScience and @UK_CEH researchers have assessed precipitation data from our X-band radar in Northern Scotland.
They found the mobile radar can help to fill gaps in the stationary radar network, and boost hydrological model performance.
