Credit: The Federalist Papers Be careful what you wish for, because the cartoon above tells a story every young American needs to hear before it is too late. The lion on the left has everything the Democratic Socialists of America keep promising. He gets free food every single day. He gets free shelter, free medical care, and protection from every threat on the savanna. He never has to worry about where his next meal comes from. Someone else handles all of that for him. But look closely at what it cost him. He lives behind steel bars, staring out at a world he will never be allowed to walk through again. The lion on the right has none of those guarantees. He hunts for every meal he eats, and some days he goes hungry. Nobody is coming to take care of him when he gets hurt. His life is hard, but it belongs to him, and that makes all the difference in the world. That is the real price tag on socialism. The promised utopia of free stuff and financial equity never delivers shared wealth. It delivers equal poverty for everyone except the people running the government. And that poverty becomes the chain. When the state controls your food, your housing, and your medicine, it controls you. At that point, your only hope is escape. Our Founders understood this better than anyone. The Declaration of Independence says our rights come from our Creator, not from a government handout that can be taken away the moment you step out of line. Now picture an America where everyone is trying to get out instead of trying to get in. That is the future waiting for us if young people keep buying the socialist sales pitch without reading the fine print. Freedom is harder than a cage, but it is the only life worth living.
