I’m optimistic.
Yes, the TN GOP specializes in voter suppression (let me count the ways…)
Yes, largely due to this☝️, TN is dead last in voter participation in the US.
BUT, we can change our story. Let’s start with matching 2020 turnout.
Last day of Early Vote starts now.🇺🇸

Thank you @CBSMMiller @cbssaturday for covering this very important story about the underfunding of @TSUedu and other @1890foundation Institutions. #HBCUsMatter @unumfund @tmcf_hbcu @NBCSL77
For decades, Black land-grant institutions received less funding than predominantly White schools, leaving faculty and students to fill in the gaps. Tennessee State University is one of many fighting to gain what's owed. @CBSMMIller visited campus to find out what's being done.

Proud papa moment: my son, who has non-speaking autism (and whom we were told only had an IQ of 40) just wrote his first essay--on disability rights, no less. Please read & retweet!

“In the end, this contrast is perhaps one of the defining — and most chilling — takeaways from the Supreme Court’s term: Justice Barrett came out of her shell. And the other Republican appointees retreated into theirs.”

As Mary says, Republicans want to have it both ways on abortion. But that’s only because they know the unadulterated pro-life position is an electoral loser.
After the election, expect a reversion to the R mean, which is NOT moderate but a push toward fetal personhood. – at Highland Mills, NY

My reading of the GOP platform on abortion: it continues the theme of Trump's campaign, which is to be confusing and therefore possibly acceptable to deeply different constituencies.

Precisely twice in my lifetime, the Tories have imploded only to hand power to a Labour Party which has accepted many of their basic assumptions; it's like waiting excitedly for a solar eclipse, and then when the day finally arrives it's just thick cloud everywhere

Did I miss Roberts giving an example of *something* that's unquestionably private, unofficial conduct? Like, one example? Or is the thumb on "official" for literally everything, and the presumption needs to be overcome in court?

Those of us who believe in liberal democracy - liberals! - are going to have to organize and fight harder than the right wing has for years to bring about today's Court decision. Dems are now running against this Supreme Court.

Chief Justice Roberts downplayed the impact of his 6-3 ruling this morning in the presidential immunity case. But SCOTUS handed Donald Trump a significant victory—with worrisome implications for the future. My analysis @TheEconomist economist.com/united-states/…

Supreme Court finds presidential immunity for official acts in the penumbras formed by emanations from constitutional guarantees that help give them life and substance.

The majority opinion in Trump says that (1) official acts can't be evidence; and (2) motive is irrelevant.
If that's the case, how could a president ever actually *be* prosecuted for ordering the military, in his capacity as commander in chief, to kill his chief political rival?
