Binance's initial investigation suggests that the security incident may involve a compromised DevOps engineer’s laptop, which allowed an attacker to gain access to a service container and submit unauthorized withdrawal transactions. We have found no evidence of any wallet private key leak. We will share a detailed technical post-mortem once the investigation is complete and the facts are fully verified.
The estimated total impact sits at around $6.3B. We have worked with blockchain partners to freeze affected assets, with ~$3 billion frozen on-chain so far.
Binance will cover all losses from the SAFU fund and the company’s funds. User funds are safe. We will also publish an updated Proof of Reserves once the remediation is complete.
As an immediate precaution, Binance has:
- temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals while security checks are completed;
- revoked the affected address authorisation;
- engaged law enforcement and blockchain intelligence partners to trace and recover funds.
Our teams are working around the clock to resolve this issue safely and thoroughly. We are working closely with our law enforcement partners to confirm the identity of these criminals and bring them to justice.

Dneska jsem se vratil v case. Po letech jsem musel do @komercka na pobocku - prevzit KB klic a pristup k uctu. Prijdu, zadny poradniky, vypada to jako office (Vysocanska Fenix), cekam 15 min, pak pridje pan, zda jsem objednany. Rikam ze ne a on ze tam nikdo dalsi nyni a ze me zavola na infolinku pro objednani terminu. Husty. Jedu do Holesek, tam se me ujala slecna a ze me KB klic zaridi. Tam taky story, ale to je na jindy... Prijedu domu, otevru banku na kompu a vidim tohle? Jako fakt to neni nejaky retro skin ktery nekde prepnu? Poradite kde to zmenim? diky za radu 🤦♂
Cekal bych, ze minimalne AI odchyti tento post a bude ze strany @komercka nejaka reakce. Ale neni - potvrzuje mi to, ze klient teto banky byl vzdy na poslednim miste. Tyhle dinosauri shit banky musi proste skoncit.

BREAKING: Revolut has announced it has incorporated Revolut Ventures, which will launch in 2027.
Eligible customers will be able to invest in high-growth private tech companies directly in the app. Companies are staying private longer, so this is about giving retail access to that value creation phase.
Makes me think this could also become the vehicle for Revolut to offer its own shares to new investors before any IPO.
